Favorite all purpose cleaner

+1 for OPC.

I had what appeared to be oil stains on one of mats. I tried a couple of other cleaners I had, and they didn't make much difference on the stain. I sprayed OPC on the stains, agitated with a carpet brush, and the stain was gone.

A couple of weeks ago, I was touching up a piece of furniture with a dark brown Minwax stain marker. As I was shaking it between uses, the felt tip end flew off! I looked for it and could not find it. I finished touching up the piece with another marker. As I was moving the piece back into place, I found the original tip from the first marker on the brown carpet between the bed and another furniture piece. The tip left a noticeable stain on the carpet. Since it was a stain pen, my initial thought was to leave it because it had been sitting on the carpet for at least 30 minutes and any hope of removing or diminishing the stain had passed. Also, the stain was in an area which is not highly visible (but I'd know it was there).

I decided to try OPC on it to see how it would do but my expectations were not very high. Honestly, I didn't think it would make a difference. I sprayed the stain, let it sit for 30 seconds or so and agitated with a damp cloth. Imagine my surprise when the stain had been lightened! I sprayed again, agitated with a damp cloth and the stain was no longer distinguishable. I was very surprised and pleased. Now, it certainly helped that my carpet is brown and the stain marker was a darker brown so the stain did not have to be completely removed to be effective (just lightened to match the carpet), but I was still very pleased with the results. I wish I had taken before and after pics, but as I mentioned previously I honestly did not think OPC would make a difference on the stain.

I've been impressed with OPC thus far. I use a 3:1 dilution ratio.

I normally use this product called Purple Power. It's very strong so you will need to watch how you use it !

To throw out another alternative; I've been using Adam's APC with great results. Still, based i the plethora of positive reviews on here, I plan on picking up some OPC to try with my next order.

If you are on a tight budget, use simple green you can dilute it 1:10 or 1:30, it is also good as the price is around 6 dollars and it is eviromentally friendly

Ive been using Chemical Guy's Nonsense for the past few cars ive done and i havent come across anything that it wouldnt take care of yet. I have three dilutions 20:1 for interiors, 10:1 for heavy duty cleaning and carpets, 5:1 for exterior cleaning like tires wheels or road grime (although 10:1 does a fantastic job at cleaning tires).

I did too, even made a new post for it and got clued in. You see KC says it cleans "out of this world", hence the nickname "Alien clean":props:

Oh, I alright. Got it. :dblthumb2:

To the OP, my favorite APC is Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner Plus.

Is OPC "body shop safe"? I wondered, as I was wanting to use it full strength to degrease an engine compartment I want to paint.

ZEP Citrus Cleaner/Degreaser Concentrate. Gallon bottles at Home depot. I even use it to wash my MF towels, clean my pads, etc.

:iagree: in addition to simple green and mean green.

ive yet to try either with my pads and mf...

OPC FTW!

Just got in today, mixed a bottle of 3:1 immediately. Cleaned some carpet stains in house, 3 kids have a tendency to drop things. I also cleaned a tough carpet stain in my wife's Saab that was giving me fits. This does exactly what people say it does.....

Apc plus doesn't foam. If you had to get one get Apc plus. Amazing product.

A buddy of mine had a strange problem with OPC. When he used it straight on his paint, it left some weird colored spots that had to be polished out. :dunno:
