I've never used one, but flipped out the first time I saw a local high end detailer using one!
I snit you not! :doh: I just kept my mouth shut thinking it was just one of those once in a wild moon type of things. Then I saw it over and over. 
Really? I've used it for cleaning tires, that's about it. Worked as advertised. OTOH, the bottle and sprayer about half way empty started coming apart. Had to hold it together every freaking time from then on. Ended up dropping it and spilling probably 6~8 ounces.
Still have another bottle sitting that I've not used though. I'll generally use some sort of Megs APC+ & (non acid) Wheel Cleaner on the clean stuff more often than not. I've yet to find a sprayer that'll hold up to Megs Wheel Brightener, even the "lifetime" units. And I'll run clear water through them immediately after use. :surrender:

I use DG 271 frequently on black textured trim. It produces great results every time! No streaks, completley dries, good durability and looks great!

I've already gone through an exhaustive amount of steps cleaning the trim beforehand, removing it, applying extremely small amounts, soaking the trim in it, immediately buffing it off, letting it sit for 2 minutes, 5minutes, 10 minutes, letting it sit for an hour. Everything produced the same results.
I was using it on E36 M3 black trim located in the front of the car.
:iagree: Any inconsistencies are most likely attributable to user error. 271 lasts and lasts, and at $7.99 a bottle? Can't beat it, period.
That is very peculiar. E39 here, and 271 works great on the front trim mouldings. Have you tried APC,undiluted, and washing any APC residue left over after prepping?

Well, it would "clean" them. But in the war against brown tire blooming this stuff is simply just not strong enough. I believe it can clean sufficiently but only on good condition tires. I don't get the dark brown runoff with this stuff like I do purple power. I'll soak the tire down with GG rubber cleaner, scrub, rinse and they still look "bleh."

Yes, Optimum Power Clean straight. Even followed that up with an IPA wipedown, let that dry for a couple minutes and reapplied.
I did successfully use it on the cowl of an 08 IS250 which is kind of textured, mostly flat I would call it and it worked fine.
Maybe the trim just doesn't want to be dressed. Have you tried ultima tire and trim guard?

Nope. I wanted to get some during one of those 4hr sales during BF but never did. I now use Sonus Tire & Bumper dressing, it looks great and seems to last a little longer than Opti-Bond. 303 is the best looking trim product by far I think since it darkens substantially but as we all know it just wears off too fast.

Very interesting thread ... However i gave up on page 28 i think ... Did someone manage to summarize this thread with the top contenders?
Btw, i think the turtle wax and turtle rubbing compound are useless. The wax is a pain to get off and the compound does work a bit but creates so much splatter .... Maybe i used too much product but in terms of consistency its not too cohesive i say. What else? Oh yes, the formula1 carnuba wax ... Not sure if it sells in the US under the same name but that stuf is junk! Utter waste of time and money ...

The chemical guys raccoon brush is by far my most regretted purchase. The thing is just too flexible to be effective and it slings cleaner everywhere, its been sitting in my garage for a year collecting dust

+2 on the lug nut cleaner. Worked fine the first couple times then the foam wouldn't sit properly and gets pushed back leaving the plastic protruding to damage the wheel.

Its a fine product, works as advertised. Personally, I just find its to expensive for routine cleaning and there are better options for neglected wheels.
