CarPro Hydro2 wipeless silica spray

Interesting Product and think it will be good for colder climates

Hmm... If it can supposedly last for the 3 months (which makes it 6x longer than permanon, since I hear that permanon really only lasts like 2 weeks), and is priced just right (and can also be dilutable), then I think I've found something that I will horde... :)

Exactly!!

Wow it looks like a good product. I'm curious how well it bonds to something like OC or CQ. Most sealants and waxes don't last nearly as long on top of them sadly :|

ok wow. not the great price point I was looking for... With the difference in dilution ratio. The price is comparable to permanon.

While that can be a fair assumption, keep in mind that with permanon, it's expensive, AND you need to constantly redo the car as it only lasts I hear about 2 weeks; so this really drains your wallet.
With this stuff, it will last supposedly 3 months, which puts it far ahead of the curve with regards to permanon. I just hope it's as durable as it claims, but if it's CarPro, I don't have many doubts.

Agree on all points. Im just a little lost on the whole concept vs. cost. It would have to last longer or cost less for me to consider buying.

I want to know how "clean" the surface has to be and by how much it would affect durability.
It clearly states not to use wash & wax products.

Yeah... Though I hear that corey's going to be doing some extensive testing with this stuff that covers these inquiries!

Corey did say that he will be doing some testing this weekend. I do wonder about the surface condition prior to the application. Could this go over an existing LSP??? or do I have to strip it prior???

If this does what it says it will make a pro detailer's job a bit easier and faster. However, it will not be good for the rest of us who like to work only on their personal car every couple weeks or so. I like to wash every week if possible, and then mess around with things like QDs and spray waxes, which I love to use and compare. I have AW, OCW, 1Z Einszett, Menzerna, Meguiars, PoorBoys, etc., etc. - and even some home brew mixes using Klasse and Optimum. I look forward to giving my paint a new dose of protection and gloss enhancer now and then. I also enjoy experimenting with different products because I know they are not long lived like a pure wax or sealant but are very effective between washes and in the short term.

If I had a product like the Hydr02, I would have no reason to play with all these other products. I doubt any of them will even bond properly if Hydr02 is the LSP. They would probably just roll right off which is not a worry with normal post-wash "toppers" and gloss boosters. The video shows that even a powerful APC won't remove this sealant so I suppose it has to wear off naturally, which takes 3 months according to CarPro. Because I do a full detail every few months and try to wash weekly, I don't care if it lasts 3 weeks or 3 months. In fact, I would prefer 3 weeks because I know I'll get to the car in that time. Any greater length of protection time and it is wasted as far as I am concerned.

As I said, this product will make clients happy and pro detailers will save time but I for one can't wait 3 or 4 months to experiment with other stuff on my car! I have a brand new Mercedes, my best car ever and I love to rub on it - I can't do that with this product. Instead of spending my money on a shrink, this is my therapy!! Sometimes new technology, great as it is, can take the fun out of things.

Corey generally posts his tests here and also on his web page which is quite nice I might add.....

That's a beautiful website !!! C-Dog has me pulling the trigger on some 4*Star UPP, only wished AG carried larger sizes of it.

Off topic (just a touch) but thanks for that like Bobby! Didn't have a chance to look at it all yet but I see there will be some interesting reading for sure. :)

Have you tried Permanon? You keep saying " I hear ". How can you make a comparison without trying it yourself.

That is fair; I will be ordering the 100mL sample size in my next order which should be during AG's next sale (hopefully soon) so I'll be putting my money where my mouth is. While I have read that many people do report short durability with permanon, there are still a select few who report extensive longevity with it too, so I hope what I see is different from what I generally read :) Especially seeing how much more cars RTU permanon will do than Hydro2 at a relatively similar price point
