Horrible wash mitt

The truth that a lot of people don't understand is that swirls are not circles at all. They are perfectly straight lines, bunched together that cover every single angle of a circle. If you look close enough, you'll see that none of the lines are curved.

The sun is round, so the markings appear round.

I seriously doubt that the mitt is 100% the culprit. The car soap should have provided enough lubrication unless the user was putting pressure on the mitt and not checking for debris.

That's not the sun, that's the flash from my camera and it's actually square. Like I said previously, the scratches cover every angle of a circle. That's why they appear round.

Wait wait wait...explain this again?

Just kidding, you da man :props:

lol! I use pictures like these to explain how light bouncing off all those scratches in paint really make it look dull and crappy. Then I'll fix the paint and take another picture. Man do the light bulbs come on after they see the second picture.

 That's usually the reaction when some thinks there paint looks good then after they see it all corrected and sealed up lol

I worked on that Blazer at a car show in Ohio. That thing was jacked up. Didn't even have a front bumper. I was looking for a black car to work on and I approached one guy with a black Vette. He wanted to ask his painter who was at the event first and get his opinion about what I was using. The painter took one look at my PC and walked away laughing, telling the owner that I didn't know what I was doing. I broke out all my toys from polishes to sand paper and went to work on this thing.

Here's a section by the door. It was nasty.

And here it is fixed:

The guy with the Vette was all ready to give me his car then and everyone else who didn't want me touching their car was singing a completely different tune. I thanked everyone and pack up my stuff. After all, I wasn't looking for business because this ain't my line of work but I could have made a killing that day. They have asked me to come back every year since but I get tired of driving that far so I decline. They need to build a airport in that tiny little town.

^ great job on the Blazer Junkman, i wish i was there to see the painter's face after just one section on your pc. You would have made a killing at that show! Lol

He came back later an apologized. He said that I clearly knew what I was doing. But hey, informing the masses is where I get enjoyment out of this stuff. I'm a strict teacher (blame the Marine Corps), but I can definitely show those who want to learn how it's done. All I ask is that you FEED a brutha'! :D

I like this wash mit. Its from BMW and remains very soft. Its very high quality, and doesn't scratch. Its lined with leather:

I also use a Griots wash pad:

Oddly enough, I have the Junk Man approved Autozone mit:

And a new Cobra Micro Chenille mit:

The Cobra seems the softest. But, I think I only used it once. I usually use the BMW mit for my BMW, and the Griots for my Pathfinder.

Also, just ordered a Wookies Fist.

I think any quality wash mit should work fine. More comes out of your technique and procedure.

How do you feel about the adams wash pads, i have 4 of them from deals, etc. They're quite soft and plush.

The wool ones hold a lot of soap but they always scratched my paint. It's easy for dirt and stuff to get caught up in them and they don't let the dirt go very easily. That's why I never used them. They also have those mitts that look like mink. I have those but I have yet to try them out. The Auto Zone ones have been my tried and true tested mitts for so many years that I find it hard to put them down for anything else.

Thanks for the insight, the merino mitts do look nice. I'll have to pick up an ugly green dreadlock pad. What is it about the design of the green mitt that prevents scratching you think

Anyone who lives near Limerick PA who wants mine can have it for free if you want to pick it up or meet me somewhere.

Have you ever tried a boar's hair brush using a light touch?

I have no clue, especially since the other ones that looks EXACTLY like it (color and all), scratch my paint to high hell. I have some soft clear coat on my car and if that mitt doesn't scratch my clear coat, you guys have it made. Of course, you have to wash the car correctly or anything will scratch your paint.

Let us know what happens.

Hell, I feel dirty admitting it! Auto Zone? Are you serious???

As soon as you send me that plane ticket! :D

No. If I have to use a light touch, then that's a red flag to me that something is wrong with that wash medium.
