Meg's buffer pads

I don't know if this was answred for u but hook and loop means Velcro. And yes that's what you'll want.
Also any pad (not size but brand) can be used with a regular hook and loop backing plate as far as I know

You know anything about lake country pads I looked at their pad chart seems pretty easy to go by and choose the right pads

Sure, I know enough to get me by ;)

I use their Gray CSS pads for liquid waxes & sealants. Their CSS pads are what I would call a really basic pad for the weekend warrior.

Forgot to add...

As far as pads are concerned, you can never have enough pads. I would also look into the Lake Country HydroTech pads. Smack has alot of experience with them and can answer any questions you may have about them better than I can.

Seeing as this was brought up as an alternative...,

OP if you want a very simple and effective pad lineup the Hydrotech pads are very easy to use and have just 3 pads in the lineup compared to 6-7 pads in say the flat pad lineup or CSS pad lineup. I really like the simplicity of the 3 pad system and you dont have to know very deep what pad does what. Cyan for cutting, Tangerine for polishing, and Crimson for final polishing/jeweling and wax application.

Also the small 5.5 pad size of the hydrotech pads will spin much better under a D/A than any of the Meguiar's Soft Buff 2.0 7 inch pads.

Also do you use a microfiber bonnet to remove wax and polish or terry cloth also Is there a softer and one that only should be used on polish? Because when I used to polish By hand had to buy a special microfiber towel that was two sided for the polish and for one side was to wipe off the other side was a softer microfiber that you would make sure that you had got all the polish off is there a bonnet out there that is made for polish?

I use the Cobra 530 MF towel to remove sealants and wax.

Its all based on your backing plate. Each backing plate has a size limit on what pad is safe to use but yes you can use 7" pads, 6.5, 5.5...even 4" like what I use ->

Aaron, which 4" pad is that?

They are the W8204's, I got them here at AG. Though that new DA Power Drill system that Megs came out with actually uses those same pads, you can find them locally at select retailers that sell the system and just get the pads seperately. Theres the maroon cutting ones as well as the soft foam black ones for LSP's as shown below:

Several weeks ago, I tried to explain the differences between all the LC pads to my daughter. She had a glazed over look 15 mins into the discussion. When I got to the Hydo-tech pads, she immediately said "Much simpler... why are the other ones so complicated".:)

I use the Cobra Miracle Towels to remove polish and wax residue. This towel does a fantastic job at removing stubborn residue such as a compound, polish, or a wax. I havent used a mf bonnet to remove residue.

For liquid duties such as a waterless wash, rinseless wash, spray detailers, spray waxes etc I use the lavender Cobra deluxe 600's. This is also another great towel for this purpose.

Exactly why I always recommend this pad lineup to new users as well as others looking for a simple pad lineup to utilize. It dosent get any easier than this. Plus the fact that the 5.5/7x8 is the best foam pad size to spin on a D/A.
