Never tried it, but I think it would be too small. I bought this custom backing plate from another vendor.I wonder how well a 3 1/2" backing plate would work with the hybrid pads. Looks like its just a hair too small. Anyone ever tried that before?

Was it KB???? I was thinking of doing the same.
Probably can cut it out yourself using the correct size hole saw. Start out with a 5 inch backing plate measure accordingly and then buy the hole saw that completes the perfect cut.
looks good can you pm the name of the vendor.
Yes sir.Was it KB???? .
He is an amazing guy! I have several KB custom BPs. When you talk to him he is so down to earth! It never ceases to amaze me the little things Kevin Brown has devolped that have made working in this industry so much easier/better. It must really iritate all those high paid engineers that initially design this stuff
Kevin Brown is the Detailers Detailer

I wonder if KB has done any "trimming" to Rupes' BPs. I bet those pads would work good on the 15? I'm also wondering how maybe a 3.5" BP would work on a Rupes 15. I don't have the machine yet, so maybe there is something about the set-up that says you cant do it; or maybe the stroke is too big for small pads. But, the stroke on the 15 isn't that big.
