Dry wash media on soft paint, sure maybe you'll see some marring if you apply enough pressure. Maybe on some crazy soft paint you might see some issues in practice but really, someone please explain to me how the mit scratches but the dirt doesn't?I think the composition of towels/mitts absolutely makes a difference. Maybe not to people that wash their cars with dish soap and old rags. Marring/swirls are a real thing. They get there with the items that are used to clean the paint.
They are great, until something hard gets tangled in the fibers. Then you get marring. For example a thorn. But I like my fake wool mitt from Meguiar's, only on my FJ though, I would never use it on the Nissan's paint, it's way too soft.
I've never had an issue with marring from it, but really only use it with Carpro Reset now, and I really agitate it on the grit guard in the rinse bucket.
Yep, those. They are super durable, mine are maybe older than all my cars combined. But mine have a bunch of junk stuck in them so I don't use them on paint anymore, just wheel well and engine bay duty. That's probably the one, I'm not sure I have any of those old ones anymore.

When i do use a mitt on paint i have a couple Cyclone Ultra mitts from The Rag Company. There pretty nice.
I don't like this style of wash mitt, I bought one to try out and found it sheds threads and fluff bits, I'm sure there are better quality ones that don't shed, but I'm not going to keep buying till I find one. I have a habit now when I'm at an auto shop, if they have these on the shelf, I will try to pluck them, and usually I'm successful.

Try the Microfiber Madness brand. I have had a couple of them for years and they are like brand new. No shedding. They're a little pricey but they last a long time.I don't like this style of wash mitt, I bought one to try out and found it sheds threads and fluff bits, I'm sure there are better quality ones that don't shed, but I'm not going to keep buying till I find one. There's only one place that sells it over here, that I could find, it's $39.95, and currently out of stock. Actually more than half the products I looked up on their site listed as out of stock. Not a good look for them. $40 is more than I'd pay for a single wash mitt, unless I was washing something really nice.Try the Microfiber Madness brand.
