Whats the go-to wash mitt now days?

If your more concerned with cost then quality or name brand, why not just drive to your local Harbor Freight and pick up their wash mitt? Its 7 bucks and it looks like the CG one.

I love this kind, and TBH, it's one of the few CG products that is actually good. But TRC now sells a two pack of these guys for $10. They are a little smaller than the CG version but more plush. Both weigh in at around 150 grams for me.

I suspect that the polyester/polymide content is 80/20 at best and possibly lower. Can only assume because CG and/or Harbor Freight doesn't list that information anywhere. If they can't list it I'm not buying.

Wouldn't intentionally use a lesser blend towel on paint So wouldn't accept a lower grade blend in a wash mitt for use on paint.

The noodle mitt from the .99 cent store is honest. 100% polyester. I’ve never trusted a noodle mitt on paint. IMO they’re the worst mitts they ever made.

It's all in your head—lol. I used the CG green noodle mitt for years and never had issues with marring or its ability to clean the paint well. It even handled many a RW with excessively dirty paint (dark granite metallic)—the kind that would make most people here clutch their pearls. Honestly, I believe technique plays a bigger role than anything else.

I’ve since switched to the Gyeon MF mitt simply because I wanted to try something new. I’m not married to either, but these two styles are interchangeable for me, and I feel totally comfortable using either one.

However, those silly sponges that seem to be all the rage—the ones with the slits? Yeah, those I will NEVER use.

No, don’t get me wrong, I’m not implying that all those noodle mitts are created equal at all.. I actually have a noodle mitt that came from Autogeek and it actually doesn’t say what it’s made of anywhere on it. The only tag on it seems to be for hanging it because I don’t think there was ever any info printed on it.

All I was saying was that the .99 cent store mitt had nothing to hide for what it was and I can respect that.

I’ll gladly take the Pepsi challenge with my Chinese made mitt that looks the same anyday of the week.lol.
Yeah i got a couple of the noodle mitts, Made in China/Korea doesn't matter to me.

It's funny to me how people obsess over wash media material when they are literally dragging dirt around their paint.

In my experience what is important is how well the media releases the dirt not how soft it is. The only time I remember having wash induced damage is when something got stuck in the fake wool meguiars mits which happened frequently.

I think the composition of towels/mitts absolutely makes a difference. Maybe not to people that wash their cars with dish soap and old rags. Marring/swirls are a real thing. They get there with the items that are used to clean the paint.

But I like my fake wool mitt from Meguiar's, only on my FJ though, I would never use it on the Nissan's paint, it's way too soft.

I've never had an issue with marring from it, but really only use it with Carpro Reset now, and I really agitate it on the grit guard in the rinse bucket.

I think Yakky is probably talking about the ones from 20 years ago, they were terrible.
This one might be 5 or 6 years old, but it might be real lambswool, when it's dry the inner mitt is quite stiff, but is very soft once soaking. It has never touched the ground.PSX_20250507_224407.jpg

This is the one I like for the Qashqai, the noodles seem thicker and softer than anything else I've seen, I bought it at Bunnings (our Home Depot) about 4 years ago for about $10. It's not dirty, this is just the colour it is. PSX_20250507_224458.jpg

I used the "noodle" chenille mits for a long time and never had any paint issues. I have noticed The Rag Company mitts I use now do seem to slide more easily across the surface, but neither seem to have any negative impacts on the paint.

Of the years of using the noodle mits, I bought them from several places under several brands ranging from here at AG to right off the rack at WalMart. Side-by-side, they all seemed very similar if not exactly the same with the only real variance being around the cuffs. I think the softest one I ever bought and the one that lasted the longest was a store-band mitt I bought at Target.

Actually, I was referring to the Blue mitt in your post. I think my Chinese Blue mitt is every bit as good as whatever comes from Korea.

How well it releases dirt is sort of irrelevant considering I use something like 16 mitts in my wash bucket so there’s always a fresh clean mitt for every piece of every panel of the vehicle and any releasing of dirt might as well happen in the washing machine.

I agree.^
