Like many things in life, learning to detail properly (and more importantly, efficiently) comes with time. Trial and error, research and just detailing car after car. There's not a real quick way to fast track it.

i used mothers and it was great. I've since switched to a synthetic mit, and while I'm sure it's not as effective, it's close enough for how easy it is that I'll probably never go back to traditional clay.

I wonder if that's why we see the discrepancy. I know many use a white pad for an AIO, and it shouldn't be an issue. Using a less aggressive pad like the green maybe I'm "saving" some protectant and with the white you're burning more of it off? I have no idea how the science behind an AIO works...

interesting thread. I wonder how a product like hd-one would do with the right pad combo for issues like this.

what pads are you guys using? maybe too abrasive and it's wearing off the protectant? I've only used the green AIO CCS pads.

I'm just a hobbyist, I get paid nothing lol. I probably wont buy another bottle of 360, as I like speed a little better but this thread still baffles me. I saw good performance and I'm wondering if they made a bad batch or something? My bottle is a year or 2 old when I used it first.

I appreciate this post. I really was not a fan of mckees tire gel. It's probably the only product of theirs I own that I wouldn't repurchase. To hear it's maybe only a little longer lasting is a bummer.

i'd add to my post above where I saw 3-6 with normal maintenance that these vehicles live outdoors. no garage queens. I do wonder if this is an anomaly or a regional thing. Also both got a 10 minute paint sealant or spray wax extender at the 1 and 3 month marks or so, but they were still beading...

i've tried a few methods, and i think this is pretty close to the best. The laguna blob remover method worked well too. Just don't expect miracles. It helps for 6' away but that's about it.

there's more of us than you think. coatings are new so they get a lot of attention. But I bet if you really had an accurate poll of hobbyists it'd still be heavy on sealants. And of course turtlewax still probably sells more than anyone at autozone haha.

interesting... i've used 360 twice. Once on a blue chevy truck and also on a silver ford explorer. It didn't have the pop and shine of hdspeed but longevity was better. at least 3 months and these were dd's. Did it compare to a powerlock or dedicated sealant? of course not, but that wasn't what...
