Take a filthy car with you and test it out when you go look at it.

I just use 4 for a waterless wash because I only use the long nap side of the towel. I do use the short nap for the windows so on a few towels I use all 8.

My family blocks my view in parking lots so I can't see all the swirled up cars and headlights with UV damage. I find it amusing because lately they have been pointing out the cars that need paint correction.

It drives me nuts. I went to a car show about a month ago and a red camaro that was swirled out to beat the band got a trophy for best paint. Ugh!

When I see that it looks like the paint is toast in that area. Further compounding or polishing will just speed up the deterioration. What caused it ... I have no idea. More than likely a bird bomb that sat there baking in the sun until multiple rain storms washed it off. I worked on a 1995...

If you polish them you lose your matte finish. I watched a streaming video on here and Mike Phillips used Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant on the flat black stripes on a Mustang. I think it's around the 48 to 49 minute mark on the video in this thread...

Think of driving down the road in the rain. Your engine gets wet. Just don't blast water directly at electrical components with a pressure washer and don't saturate insulation on the hood. Best wishes on a successful engine detail!
