Super Frustrated. LSPs constributing to water etching damage on daily driver

It's been three weeks post a complete 105/205 compound/polishing, followed by two coats of Klasse sealant glaze and once coat of Pinnacle Sov Liquid Wax. My daily driver sits in my gravel driveway and takes constant exposure. I planned on keeping the finish very well protected so it would not...

    Bug Guard????

A little more information here: http://prowax.com/1prod_bulls/S-10pb8_8_08.pdf This stuff is for very short term protection. The product bulletin says it must be reapplied after the vehicle has encountered rain or even heavy dew. To me it sounds like a gel that becomes semi-viscous after a...

    Opti-Coat 2.0 on my EVO 3D?

I polish out the entire face of my HTC Touch Pro 2 every few months with Megs 105/205! Sure it would be easier to use and change screen protectors, but...... In fact, I've wet sanded and polished other people's phones too. The screens are plenty thick to do it multiple times!

I just had to share this!

This spring I helped a best friend prep his NSX (94 with almost no miles) for its first drive of the year. He pulled out of the driveway and shifted into first. The car sounded like a bucket of marbles. Long story short, a chipmunk has stashed dozen of acorns inside the extruded frame rails...

Headlight sealant: spar urethane vs. opti coat 2.0

I really want to try your unpolished sanding-to-urethane approach on a customer's car but am hesitant because it seems likely as soon as the finish sealant fails the light lens is going to get very hazy/cloudy. In other words, the future failure will be very acute and noticeable, instead of...

    Wally World does it again

AG HD is an excellent choice for certain applications and is quite unique in its ability to keep a bright finish extremely bright with no darkening/wetting associated (and very often desired) with most LSPs. You can layer it up (very thin applications) without reducing the intensity of very...

    Eagle One Spray Wax

It's okay stuff. The 23 ounce nano wax spray is 4$ at autozone (or it was for the past couple weeks). I like the wax as u dry product a little more as it is slicker, but they are both decent for super cheap. No comparison to premium spray waxes; as long as your expectations are low they...

Another reason AG should consider GTechniq!

Cool. I might try this with some of my spray waxes for curiosity's sake. Great idea and thanks for sharing. I agree with you that if a spray wax is marketed as a nuba spray, it should actually have a measurable amount of real wax in it and this seems like an awfully foolproof test.

    klasse

It's probably going to work as well as any other paint sealant with the exception of longer lasting products like opti-coat and the like. It will certainly help prevent oxidation to the surface for a few months or more. For the money, Klasse HGSG is VERY hard to beat <1$/ounce).

    Island Girl Mirror Hard Superglaze?

Wondering if anybody has experience with this product? The company says it is paint safe and great on cars (originally formulated for gel coats). It got high praise in this marine sealant/wax comparison (www.imarsales.com/pdf/PS0910_reprint_Waxes_web092110.pdf) for shine and >1 year...

Which manufacture has the worst orange peel from factory??

I spent 8 hours walking at least a half dozen miles at the chicago auto show this year studying the paint quality of every manufacturer present. I wish I would have had a paint gauge with me. The auto show is definitely not a random sampling so I really probably shouldn't take much away from...

Has this forum taken the place of AG product reviews?

I wonder if AG could determine or has an idea about how many of their customers actually search the forums. If 90 percent of customers use the forum to gather/share information, than product reviews at the store site probably serve little use. As has been pointed out, the store reviews are...

Which manufacture has the worst orange peel from factory??

You and I don't own GM any longer. But, we can all take some credit for the turnaround that they are making in part. Personally, I don't think they are very serious about staying on top, however. Otherwise they would be investing more in projects like the volt and pull ahead of Toyota (who is...

Has this forum taken the place of AG product reviews?

There seems to be... no, there IS a general lack of informative product reviews on product pages throughout AG. Many products that have been on AG for >year have 0 reviews. Informative product reviews on the product pages are an important factor in the sale of products to first-time users...

About to give up on m105

Wool on a DA works very well on fiberglass, but you need a powerful DA. The porter cable XP does not really have enough juice to do the job efficiently with wool on gelcoat.

About to give up on m105

Try Meg Ultimate Compound. It is OTC. It is CHEAP (unless you are buying by the gallon). It is VERY GOOD. It does not dry to a nasty residue like your 105. It dusts MUCH less. You will be able to turn up the speed to get similar cutting while producing about the same heat. All while leaving...

Best $3.50 spent on an OTC

Their marketing plan is working, the other day I grabbed their other wash (the yellow one) that essentially has a rinse-aid in it and no wax. It does work quite well; very slick, but not nearly as foamy as the wash+wax. Its self rinsing is pretty darn good (I buy ONR by the gallon). For the...

What does it mean to spray wax in a cross hatch pattern

Spray, wipe with microfiber in one direction, wipe with microfiber a 2nd time at 90 degrees off from the direction of the first wipe. It's quicker than making tight circles and still creates good, even film coverage which is important because some spray waxes dry very quickly.

When using MF towels with ONR...

Even on a just-detailed car, I won't use my waterblade on painted finishes. The risk is just too high. If there is a single abrasive contaminant on your paint, you are guaranteed to end up with a scratch with the squeegee; with a proper towel, the likelihood of a scratch is much reduced by the...

Best $3.50 spent on an OTC

Stopped by autozone this week to pick up a can of A/C refrigerant and noticed ALL (usually it's just some select items) of the eagle 1 products were 2/7$. Did not matter if they were 9.99 or 3.99. I heard the nano car wash was pretty good from a detailing friend so I tried a half gallon and...
