I have seen scratches or marring from wiping on soft paint or using improper towels but I have yet to see holograms caused by wiping. Holograms normally come from the unique scratch patterns left behind from using a rotary buffer. Compound, polish and wax residue can also have that hologram affect.

If the marring/holograms are shifting and changing directions every time you wipe then it sounds like residue from Megs M21.

I've used it before and it applied fairly easy for me. This was a couple of years ago when it first came out. Maybe you got a bad bottle or perhaps the shelf life was close to expiration.

***Day 9 Update*** Today has been 9 days since HD Speed was applied to this Ford F-150. As previously noted, this truck sits outside 24/7 so it gets its share of sun and rain. The truck has not been washed since HD Speed was applied (5/28/18) until today. I did a rinseless wash on the hood...

You can wipe the washer and dryer with a damp general purpose MF towel before using.

I just applied it to the roof of the car which has a little slope to it but as far as I could tell it's mostly beading.

I just used it today as a rinseless wash. I've also used it as a waterless wash, clay lube and paint prep. Great product, picking up a gallon of it today with the AG sale going on.

Doesn't look like it's seated correctly. The slot on the backing plate has to line up just right on the nut in the gear mechanism.
