What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Gave the stang a quick rinseless wash and decided to pull out the GG6 to remove some of the water/oxidation spots. This paint is old, MACCO single stage and oxidizes really easy. I was only going to do the hood, roof and trunk, but decided to do the whole car. Most of the scratches you see are...

    what are you currently watching?

That's interesting. I might have to check out some older movies to see. The Carwow videos have so many cuts that you can't tell what's happening. I'm sure it's to try to keep people watching, but I actually watch fewer of their videos because of it. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk

    what are you currently watching?

I agree with your 3 comments, but I had to rewind a couple times. The Mustang has a 10spd dual clutch transmission?....um, no. Also, Carwow does way (way, way) too many camera cuts. Drives (no pun intended) me nuts. They change cameras more times in a quarter mile than all the racers shift in...

The Post a Picture of Your Ride as it Sits Thread

I'm guessing temp/humidity made the exhaust more visible. I've had that before where it's cool (not cold) and humid. Exhaust would 'steam' a lot until engine warmed up and it was that steam that just didn't go away so it looked bad.

What did you do today non-detailing related?

Odd that they wouldn't recommend after rotation since it's the same as getting new tires (i.e. the wheels need to come off the vehicle). I'm sure you know, but the main reason to recheck after some time, ~100 miles, is to make sure lugs haven't loosened up due to heat cycling and general...

What did you do today non-detailing related?

I usually buy 5qt jugs because they are cheaper, but it kind of sucks because 2 of my vehicles take 6 quarts. I usually have a partial 5qt sitting around because I'll buy more than needed and just use it at the next change. Last time I was at Walmart, I found a 12qt box of Mobil 1. Same...

What did you do today non-detailing related?

No good deed goes unpunished. After finding owner of lost cell phone on my bike ride, my Mustang decided to strand me. Just died while idling. Good thing I was in a parking lot playing with the idle, bad thing I was about 1.5 miles from home and had to walk (hot and humid). I got home, packed...

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Did a bit of a ooops. Someone, not pointing fingers (my son) scratched my 'hog', I think with handle of his bike. Hit it with a microfiber pad and some Megs UC and got a little too aggressive. Burned a little through the paint. Disappointing, yes, but it's rolling 25k+ miles and overall...

Any one can tell me if I need a v belt or serpentine?

The first/second pictures looks like your belt is on 'inside out' in that the ribs should be on the inside. It looks like your power steering pulley has ribs, is that correct? If so, that belt is definitely on inside out and since it's ripped, need a new one. You can see the part numbers on that...

Please give your best coating application tips…

I've only applied Gtechniq CSL and EXOV4 and used small 15ml bottle of Cquarts SiC when I didn't want to buy a lot to recoat my door after someone scratched it. When I did the Gtechniq, what I did was the 3 towel method. First towel levels, 2nd towel you wipe a little more area and 3rd towel...

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Edge got a bath this weekend. 24/7 outside, mostly parked under a big tree. Wheels got Megs wheel cleaner and rest was Griots Brilliant Finish and a bucket full of microfiber towels. Since the apron in front of the garage is at an angle, I put the left wheels on a couple boards so I can get to...

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Yeah. I recently installed Wagner OEx pads and they seem to dust a lot. Braking is good though, so a tradeoff.

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I know it's not 'Wheel Wednesday', but a couple pics of my (wife's) Explorer wheel before full car wash. Been a few weeks since a wash. Meg's All Wheel Cleaner. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk

What did you do today non-detailing related?

Been dealing with a fueling issue on my Mustang for a while. Last weekend I decided to start diagnosing. After bypassing my inline fuel pump and getting it all back together, the fuel line blew put when I was priming the system. Had to drop the tank to repair the hose, and another case of...

No worries. Vortech owns Paxton now, so you aren't too far off. Also, if you place the product lines side-by-side, they have a lot of overlap. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk

What did you do today non-detailing related?

Quiet one. It's actually a Paxton (Novi 2000). Has helical internal gears, so it's quieter than the loud straight cut gears. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk

Finished installing all the goodies on the 'ole Stang after having heads rebuilt. Seems to run much better, but I've only put about 10 miles on it. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

A little headlight restoration. I did the Spar Urethane years ago and it's held up decently, but needed a refresh. Sanded with 600 and 1000, then a layer of 50/50 spar and mineral spirits. Not perfect, but improved. The passenger side turned out much better. At some point I'll do full...
