what are you currently watching?

I watched the opening ceremony all the way through since it was live and at a reasonable time. It was unique since the tour of Paris approach was more for the TV audience. The rain made it interesting.

For those engrossed in current events, I do not think 2024 remotely compares to turbulent 1968.

The opening ceremony was in the middle of the night for us, so I watched the highlights this morning, it looked very french, lots of serious faces, and some of it was just plain bizarre, but it was well done.

Rugby 7's in Paris. Frickin' NBC - if you post coverage starts at 8:35 but the match starts at 8:30 you miss the first half you morons!

Yes, the frustration of the Olympic coverage has begun. The network covering it here has 3 channels showing it, last night 1 was supposed to be swimming, another the basketball, and the last was cycling road time trial, but all 3 had swimming at 1 point, so annoying. If I wanted to watch the swimming, I'd switch to that channel.

After their earlier morning fail I made sure to have the TiVo start early (earlier than I normally already do) and end late just to make sure I had the full Bronze and Gold games. Turned on the Bronze game and it was basketball. No problem, this was expected, I started recording early so FF looking for start of rugby game. Finally, they cut to rugby and . . . there's 2:37 left in the MATCH! ###, NBC? I mean it's 7's, each half is only 7 minutes long with a 2 minute halftime, you can't come in late to this stuff like that.

The only way here in the States to guarantee they actually cover something is if there's a better than even chance of a US team medaling or there's some big social interest in some participant. The days of my youth where I watched the Olympics to see the best athletes in the world competing are long gone . . . which explains why I hardly watch them anymore. Since I'm not somebody that thinks skateboarding, beach volleyball, etc. are actual world class sports I'm not their target audience anymore anyway. Now if you'll excuse me I think I saw some squirrels on the lawn that need to experience some spirited fist shaking.

Squid Game - Red Light, Green Light Scene (Season 1)

So maybe I'll be going back to standard width tyres next time. Although wider rubber looks better, it doesn't mean more rubber on the road, and less when you drop pressures off road, and it costs more. On the other hand, wider rubber looks better, wait, I already said that, didn't I.

Been watching a good amount of labocosmetica videos with reggie cox. Learning the ins and outs, dilution ratios, best was to use of some of their products.

A little excited to watch the next season of Ring of Powers, re-watching the first season.

Local PBS affiliate was doing their fund raising thing and telecast a marathon of "Doc Martin" season 9, most of the episodes I had not yet seen, so I started going through the TiVo buffer yesterday to watch and will continue this week. Love that show.

Things to take from this video:

The NASCAR sounds fantastic till it breaks

The Mustang sounds great and is very quick

The Cupra sounds horrible but is surprisingly rapid

I agree with your 3 comments, but I had to rewind a couple times.

The Mustang has a 10spd dual clutch transmission?....um, no.

Also, Carwow does way (way, way) too many camera cuts. Drives (no pun intended) me nuts.
They change cameras more times in a quarter mile than all the racers shift in Fast and Furious.

It does get annoying, but it is predictable, they seem to follow a formula.

There was a study done a while back, they analysed 15,000 movies from 1930 on. They discovered the average shot length has decreased from 12 seconds in 1930, to 6 in 1970, and down to 2.5 in 2010. This raises the question, is this because of our shortening attention spans, or is it causing our attention spans to shorten? If you watch a film that you enjoyed from your youth, they often feel really slow paced now, and that's annoying as well.
