2006 Monterey Red Corvette Restoration - It all started with a "scratch"

That is a great turnaround dude! That car should have never been in that shape to begin with, just makes ya' wonder huh.... Hopefully you versed the guy in what a REAL towel is and he'll make an attempt to keep it up.

The shot where you are laying flat just makes me hurt! ;)

OTOH, if the Vette looked like that, I'm scared to see the Excursion! The work you do however will have him coming back, and bringing his friends for sure. :dblthumb2:

Lol im usually ok laying flat like that...only time i dont feel comfortable is in the winter when the cement is ice cold!

The Excursion wasn't pretty but it wasn't all oxidized and water spotted either...surprisingly lol. It needed love but nothing we cant handle :)

Damn nice!

Thank you !

This is as good a post as there is on AG. Well written, dare I say I was riveted as I read it--hoping it would turn out okay. Well, it turned out way beyond okay. Seriously, this is awesome!

Great job guys. Team work for sure! Great pictures showing 50/50 shots. It always amazes me what a beautiful car, not well taken care of looks like. Great save guys.

dont know if an excursion is a reward or a penalty. but the vette came out beautifully. any person who helps with the bottom work is gold. good to see the old foam gun getting used. another nice job will.

All I can say is wow!!!!
How many hours did it take?

Thank you :). If i remember right it took us between 8-9 hours...so with two people...16-18 hours total. We've had worse thats for sure, but this wasnt exactly a cake walk either lol.

Great job!

Thank you!

I love when you guys take the time to read through it...i try to build it up and explain what we were feeling and thinking as we went through the detail step by step.

I think it was a little better than ok too :)...i loved how the 50/50 shots turned out. I think my sis actually is using one of those pics as her FB profile photo right now lol.

Dave! Whats up man! Yes sir, use that foam gun A LOT, I even bought a few extra bottles for it...so i have my dawn/apc bottle, maintenance wash bottle...and i even have another bottle i use when we're doing some BAD floor matts...i'll spot spray them, foam them and then PW them...then extract...works pretty good actually :)

And yes i crawl around on the ground as much as anyone lol...gotta do it...no one in the world other than the 2 of us will probably see just how big of a difference it makes but, it just has to be done.

Glad to hear from you and hope all is well :dblthumb2:

Yup yup, big on the team work. Ive said before but, we're kinda like a pit crew, a small one lol. We're always doing something...if one of us is waiting on the other to complete something...we'll go and pack something we're done with or double check an area we just completed (well more like triple check) etc. It works well and its pretty good cause we rarely get in eachothers way.

Thank you for checking it out :xyxthumbs:

That was the sorriest looking paint I think I have ever seen on a Corvette. Even running it through the tunnel of death and getting the spray wax would have left it better looking than it did when it was inflicted on you.

It sure must feel good to turn around a disaster area like that.

Even better if the customer has the sense to give it to you to keep up. Properly washed and protected it should look nice for years to come.

Great work guys and the write up was worth the read. Wonderful story with a fabulous ending.

Lol @ "The Tunnel of Death"...good description. And yeah it does feel awesome to turn something like that around...hopefully its still in that shape or close to it as its been a couple months or so since we've done it...im sure we'll find out soon :)

Glad you enjoyed it...and yup i love nice endings too :)

As always AWESOME work Team A!
Great write up Wills and great job on one seriously hammered Vette!
Dani, you rock girl, we all know that finish polishing is the harder job! :)

Tip top work there. Digging that color. If I had unlimited money, I'd probably repaint my Aura in it, just because you could do that when money is not a problem ha.

Lol thanks buddy. She definitely had to triple check her polishing with the IPA as i said in the write up. We found a few spots along edges to be left a bit faded as they weren't completely polished and oxidation remained after IPA...but she did her thing and it turned out sweet :)

Hahaha yeah you can do all kinds of crazy stuff when money isn't an option...i cant even imagine that life though...i'd still be working doing this stuff even if i was rich, no doubt about that
