2014 Corvette Unveiling - 7 pm EST Tonight!

This is a great redesign, the corvette is in it's own category. It's like an experience more than it is a car. Can't wait till they're on the showroom floor!

Back end will have to grow on me, and I HATE it being called a stingray. Those badges on the side suck. Yes I'm a vette guy, and more of a traditionalist one. The only thing I don't understand is I haven't heard or seen "c7" anywhere? Has anyone? I talked to my uncle who works at the GM tech center and he heard this is more of a c6.5 than a c7. Did they call it a c7 at the press conference?

I agree, but for the most part they got a lot of things right in the traditional sense. :xyxthumbs: More than I thought beforehand...

I noticed this also.. I am curious to find out too. I wonder if that means this a temporary style; or a separate model?

Yea I find it odd. I agree that the car looks better than I thought will all the artist renderings and predictions of what they thought it would look like, but currently I think I'll take a c6 z06 or zr1 over that

I think it's nice. But, I kind of liked how the past models had more of a subdued look. If you minus the clear hood insert from the zr1, even that is kind of a sleeper.

I am looking to buy a c6 Z06..... Guess it'll be cheaper now!

High resolution pics from the Unveiling..check out the swirls and paint iperfections..hard to believe GM would let this slip by!

To agree with others, I'm seeing alot of Camaro in that rear end. I hate the fact that the went away from the round tailights, and that plastic piece coming up from the bottom is ridiculous. I suspect some of the first major mods people do will be to paint that piece the body color, and someone will come out with a set of aftermarket tailights that are circular -Probably sell the mess out of them too.

I just took a good look at the rear fascia. The tail lights are growing on me but that black would have to go, it just doesn't look right!!

Wowowowow!! This new Stingray looks MEAN! Much better than what some of the "leaked" renders looked like.

:applause:

I was going to start my own thread about this but since there's one already up what the hell, Let me first say that my favorite car is the Corvette in particular the "mid year" models, I want nothing more than a 1967 Goodwood green with the white stinger, sidepipes but with everything modern underneath and a C5 ZO6 engine, this way its still a 427. My Dad bought a 66 Sting Ray brand new for $4200, 327/350, 4 spd and 3.36 gearing and it was all black. He removed the front bumpers and added Torque-Thurst wheels to it with 7.75 15's. He worked at GM Gear and Axle in Hamtramck and in 1968 the car was slid into, repaired but wasn't the same so he sold it. Two years later I showed up and owning a Vette was placed on the back burner, well until 1980 when he bought a 78' Corvette, black w/red interior automatic and the 180 hp L-48. He owned it for a while but living in Detroit the car was almost stolen a couple times, one time in particular had my Dad going out to go to work when he found our brown Chevette, moved away from the garage door, that was it. Forward down the road, my Dad bought a 79, another 78, moved onto a brand new 96 when he retired, sold that a couple years later and bought a 93 and finally a 2003 before he passed away. I bring all this up to give some background to my love for the Covette and my following comments:

THE NEW CORVETTE IS A MESS!!!

Let me comment on a couple things.......

1. The tailights..........OMG THE TAILIGHTS! NO CORVETTE SHOULD LOOK LIKE A DAMN CAMARO! You wanna make the new Malibu look a Camaro with its new tailights, fine but NOT A CORVETTE! This is the halo car for Chevrolet and you've had plenty of time to get it right......or maybe not.

2. The front end looks like the new Viper, the Corvette should never look like a Viper (now I love the look of the upcoming Viper, HOTT!)

3. Rear valance panel comes up too high and looks cheap.

4. Enough with the black wheels already my God!!

Ii was already worried about the car as it was because of the rumor of the twin turbo V6 going in it. Sure the performance would be good I'm sure but not since 54 has the Corvette had 6 pistons pumping and that's where it needs to stay too.

The car will be here in Chicago next month and I'll check it out but its just going to confirm to me the car needs a make over in the rear for sure, can't stand how it looks.

Omg that is the most beautiful corvette ever! Amazing!!!!

I respect most opinions but REALLY! You've seen the 1963-67 Corvette Sting Ray before, right? Or the 1956-57?

The front looks like the new Viper and the tailights look like a Camaro, first applied to the new Malibu and now the Halo car, horrible! The Corvette should look nothing like any other Chevrolet, period! I don't care how well the Camaro sells either or how many people know it because of a movie. What the hell happened here.....THE FALL OF AN ICON!

I made a mistake on comment #1, must have still been seeing red! I mean't to say that A CORVETTE SHOULD NEVER LOOK LIKE A CAMARO!

Good observation about the LF-A (a car getting the axe, hmmm, wonder why, LOL!)

I wonder how many model yrs the C7 will go before they change the tailights?

I thought overall it looks really cool, a definite improvement over the C6 base visually. But some stuff I think they went a bit too far, like the rear of the car, the air intakes all over the place, and the rather garish looking carbon in the interior. But overall, really really cool looking car.

Cant wait to see the C7 widebody Z06 in a couple years!

....a nice vehicle by the GM folks!! :dblthumb2:

BUT...I feel compelled to add:

^^^ Enough with the black wheels already!!! ^^^ :nomore:

2014CorvetteSilverWheels.jpg

^^^ "Lotsa Better" ^^^ :xyxthumbs:

{But...IMO...Chromed Wheels...For the Win!!!}

Where is that Option/Pricing List??

Cant wait to see the C7 widebody Z06 in a couple years!

Won't be too long of a wait...RE: Std. 7-speed manual tranny

I agree, the rear is very bloated looking like the Camaro. Not happy.

Again, I agree. The new Viper looks way better.

And the intro, they were like 3 stooges up there. They were acting happy but couldn't figure out what to say other than thank you. Ralph Gilles did a way better job of introducing the 2013 Dodge Viper.

Lighter and stiffer chassis - check, tighter steering - check, better braking - check, better use of composite and carbon materials - check, power production - umm...yawn. But hey, they squeezed out 1-3 more MPG's...
