It's all about specs and numbers for some people and that's why American muscle cars do well for most Americans. It has a large amount of horsepower and it has a track spec'ed suspension and Laguna Seca is a track that favors high powered cars. The Boss 302 handles at a high limit, but i would not say it handles "good".
I'd still rather own a BMW M3. Though it may not have performed as good on one track as the Boss 302, it out performs the Boss 302 in probably every other category.
I didn't have the chance to go over the data with a fine tooth comb, but is there any solid axle cars that top the Nurburgring?

*Edit* I noticed the link isn't working, search nurburgring lap times and it'll pop up.
And on a side note, i noticed the Jaguar XJ220 still high up on the list. Amazing for an ancient super car.
