2015 Ford Mustang

Even though I'm a mustang guy through and through, I think they're all great looking cars, minus the camaro's interior. That thing is hideous on the inside

I agree. I love the new Camaro exterior styling. Wish I could own all 3.

I solved my dilemma by picking up a 13 Charger RT and Durango RT, so everything I drive looks sinister and has get up and go.

Where did that .01% come from? I will agree that a very low percentage will probably ever make it to a track and be drag raced in that sense BUT you cant tell me just about everyone who owns one isnt drag racing it on the street or a back road i mean c'mon now it is a mustang. Just because it isnt on a track doesnt mean people arent "drag racing" the cars in some way. I do agree though the IRS is the way to go and it will only get better as well. :dblthumb2:

You have me there. I completely made up the .01%.

Let's see, they are selling about 80~90k Mustangs a year right now (pretty poor sales in the history of the 'stang but it's been that way for a few years). So .01% would be what... 8 cars?

I do think the solid rear axle has more to do than just drag racing. It's also the feel and driving characteristics that, while 'technically' inferior, gives a feel of a classic muscle car. It's kind of like a manual transmission on a car that has a fast dual-clutch automated manual. You get the manual not because it's better in any way- you know it's slower; you get it because it's fun and it completes the driving experience!

Roman, your title says 2015 Mustang but I saw nothing after the yellow 275.....OMG!

The new Mustang is AWESOME! Good luck Chevy trying to recover from this, can't keep putting your car in 80's kids toy movies, your fatt and bloated w/ that Camaro, just scrap it and bring out that concept car from the autoshow from a year or two ago. I like how the Mustang looks similar and completely different at the same time, VERY WELL DONE!

I also like how the 2.0L Ecoboost was enlarged to a 2.3L, can you say SVO II...over 300 hp and 300 ft/lbs of torque, Livernois Engineering has gotta be chomping at the bit to get ahold of this engine/car.

I'm thinking about going home in January to hit the Autoshow to see it inperson in January, but with the Chicago Auto Show the following month it should be there too, right?

CONGRATS TO FORD!!!

GM seems to be the worst (especially with the Cadillac brand) at producing these space-age looking vaporware concept cars that have zero intention of ever being in any sort of production. Even if it's name is similar to a model that will later be produced (but is an entirely different car from the ground up).

I like Ford Mustangs! My father had owned probably about 10 Camaros and Mustangs, i grew up with American muscle cars. He just traded in his Ford Mustang and i enjoyed driving it the few times i did. It handles like s*** but that's not why i liked driving it. ANYONE who says a Ford Mustang handles great really needs to open their horizon to other cars. It's quite the opposite. I'm sure handling will be a dramatic improvement over last years model.

My horizon on cars is open. Again, for what it is, I feel the Mustang handles great. I don't want it to ride like its on rails unless I'm truly road racing the thing for a purpose. Takes away from the fun of driving them and what a Mustang originally is like what Romans5.8 pointed too with the technical feel. It's just different preferences among people.

Ummm, Cadillac is kicking some serious ass right now! Its one area they have NO competition from Ford or Chrysler and they've got BMW, Audi and Merc looking over their shoulder for sure! If that concept car with the cool name, can't spell it comes out, look out!

Back to the Stang, I thought they'd offer the Ecoboost 3.5L in there too, 400 hp Stang anyone? Then have a 500 hp GT, 600 hp "special edition" and then a 700 hp Shelby something or another!

So Boss 302's, Laguna Seca's, Roush Stage 3's, Saleen's, GT500's, GT350's, Super Snakes and RTR's handle like s#$t?

It's all about specs and numbers for some people and that's why American muscle cars do well for most Americans. It has a large amount of horsepower and it has a track spec'ed suspension and Laguna Seca is a track that favors high powered cars. The Boss 302 handles at a high limit, but i would not say it handles "good".

I'd still rather own a BMW M3. Though it may not have performed as good on one track as the Boss 302, it out performs the Boss 302 in probably every other category.

I didn't have the chance to go over the data with a fine tooth comb, but is there any solid axle cars that top the Nurburgring? Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

*Edit* I noticed the link isn't working, search nurburgring lap times and it'll pop up.

And on a side note, i noticed the Jaguar XJ220 still high up on the list. Amazing for an ancient super car.

Oh I'm not at all bashing Cadillac. I'm just saying they are bad at very silly space-age 'concepts' for products that GM NEVER intends to actually produce.

For example;

Cadillac-World-Thorium-Car-Concept.jpg

To be fair, those are much more expensive; higher end cars. A Subaru Impreza, Mazda Miata, or other small cars in the base models price range handle much better- but are a far different experience.

We forget that the Mustang is several cars in one. Starting at $21k and ballooning (through Shelby) near $100,000. The V6 and GT without upgraded brakes and suspension is a fair-at-best handling car. But it's that true muscle car feel of going sllooowww into a corner, fighting it the whole way through, and powering out loudly with immense torque. That'll put too big of a smile on your face to notice some cheesy little rice banger passed you in the inside. You'll blow his doors off on the straight anyway.

PERSONALLY, I love that. I don't want the fastest- I want something that gives me an awesome driving experience. My personal preference is a torquey, sloppy, visceral driving car that doesn't get 'coaxed' into corners so much as beaten into submission! However, I've driven a few excellent handling cars (Miata, Porsche Cayman S, Honda S2K); and they are an entirely DIFFERENT type of fun. In all honesty- how much do seconds around a track matter to the owner of the car? For most owners- not much. It's the smile it puts on your face.

Ford Transit van.;)

I could care less what a car does on the Nurburgring. If I don't like how it drives on the roads I'll be driving it on or how I'll be driving it, then I probably wouldn't get it. This has been said numerous times on Top Gear for several cars. They feel the cars missed the mark because they were developed on the Nurburgring.

BMW M3 puts a smile on your face all the time with it's premium interior, excellent comfort, premium feel and relatively low NVH, excellent and confidence inspiring handling, and it's power in a straight line. Ford Mustang is like an on and off switch. The throttle is the happy face maker. Everything else pisses me off.

But my BMW M3 drove leaps and bounds better than my fathers Ford Mustang GT. See post above.

Different engineered purpose cars. For one to come close to beating the other with a far less advanced chassis and suspension is a win in my book.

And again, it's all about ones preferences.

not a fan of it (as we were talking one day) but the inside got those bells and whistles now! hahaha i'm liking it

I kinda dig it. Need to see it in person, but looks pretty good!
