3 polishes that can tackle anything!!!

Mark, great post and you do mention some of the most used polishes... At one point I was obsessed with LSP's but now have matured into having a variety of polishes to handle anything that is put infront of me... I would be BSing someone if I said brand X is the best polish.....I now use many different polishes to properly manage the task at hand.

I've used both (pf as one step and followed up by sf) and couldn't see a difference on my soft paint but according to the chart, 106FA should add more gloss than just a one step with power finish. I used both with a DA so maybe I need to work the 106FA longer. I'll try it again in the spring.

Thanks embolism. Menz has so many apparently good polishes it's hard to choose. I'm torn between Super Intensive Polish/PO106FA or Power Finish/PO85RD combos.

All I have at the moment is pinnacle advanced swirl, dodo lime prime and the m205 for polishes
Ryan, looks like all of your mentioned polishes are either light polishes or finish polishes. If your looking for a step above you could also try OPT CompoundII.Will correct medium swirls and light scratches with ease and will finish down great. Also the no/VERY little dusting-added bonus.

I think it's impossible to have just 3 polishes for everything. Paint varies SO much even in one manufacturer, that you really have to have a variety to tackle anything that comes through your doors. At last count I had 18 compounds and polishes (not including cleaners and glazes) and I use every one of them on a regular basis.

I would have to politely agree Flannigan.

I still stand by my 3 polishes. :p

Problem is you will get correction jobs that require you to do three steps instead of 2. Lets say you have a car that powerfinish doesn't finish well enough on, but po85 rd doesn't remove all the defects left over? Then instead of being to finish with another polish like s17 or something, you now have to do two more whole steps. just my .02.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying?

Sorry :(

Is Menz power finish # PO 203? Can you use MF pad with 105, 205, Mens power and super finish, etc?
Power Finish works great with Megs MF pads...I used it on my neigbors 2 cars..PF and a finishing pad for a 1stepper on his black car..came out real nice. Used the cutting pad and PF on his SUV and does great job as a 1stepper..granted this isnt giving you perfect results but for a 1step it does a really nice job at cleaning alot of defects up and makes the paint shine.

But 105 is another polish he has. So by testing and seeing power finish is not removing the defects, then 105 should do it fllowed by power finish. Unless you want to jewel it with 85RD.

Lets say your paint won't finish well with P203 (PF). So that means that after PF you will have to do PO85 since PO85 alone won't remove the defects without using PF first. If you had a polish between the two you could cut out a step (for example say M205 would get the defects out and finish well). So by having only 3 polishes you have forced yourself to do another step.

whats up mark, its been awhile I've been pretty busy myself . Are you using po85rd with a DA on black lc pad? if you dont mind shoot me a pm with your number I dropped my phone in a bucket of water lol.

I've been using Menzerna power gloss. Its in the compound category but its really an aggressive polish and finishes quite nice. Maybe finish off with super finish.

More lately.. I use this combo if I need more cut. Its slightly thinner than power finish but it has just a little more bite..

I have. Only 3 products.. power gloss, power finish & super finish. I have yet to run into anything these guys wont do.

Have 105 and dont like it. SIP, Power finish and micro finish. Need more or less, change pads

SIP doesn't cut anywhere near as much as M105 no matter what pad you use it on. It's a medium polish, not a compound.

Yes this is true. I haven't had the need for a more aggressive polish...yet.
The most aggressive product I have at the moment is M105 and Ultimate compound.
I'll have to add one of these 3 mentioned polishes to my collection because im sure I will come across a time when I'll need it

I have Meg's Ultimate Compound /ScratchX 2.0/Ultimate Polish and after joining AGO I decided to get m105/m86/m205 and MF kit.... I guess it will be enough, right ? I might add 85rd as everybody praises it....
m86 is not DA specific but I think it won't be a problem as I saw a lot of guys using it with a DA, right ?

Mark, you recently reviewed the Optimum compound and polishes. How do they rate with these 3 and have you thrown them out as well? ;)

I use exactly the same ones!!! Although a few days ago I work on a "very tired", "stone-chiped" racing Porsche 911 and 1 step was M105. Very happy with it. I would say it is a bit more easy to work with than the Menzerna Power Gloss.
