58' GMC Pick-Up Restoration - ORIGINAL paint!

You two did a fantastic job. That must be awesome having someone as close as your sister by your side every step of the way.

Thank you for taking the time to post this and type up everything. These cars and this kind of quality is what puts a smile on my face - I have two classic's as well, and nothing puts me more in-tune with my passion than getting my hands on something like that beautiful truck.

Also, great reply up there. I hope to see you around - heck, I may have some questions for you too! Keep up the professionalism and great work, you two.

Great work as always. That truck was in great hands (and minds), and it really shows!

Also, my hats off to you for the way you handled the ridiculous comment on this thread. I'm actually quite surprised that he hasn't yet been banned (given some of his tasteless comments in the past), but it also blows my mind that someone could be so misogynistic. I know it's an unfortunate reality today, but some people just don't have a clue.

You and your sister are absolutely top notch detailers, business owners, and clearly great companions to one another in life. Keep up the fantastic work, and don't let people get you down with their closed minded viewpoints.

Excellent post, write-up, pics, and...results!!! Those 50/50 shots were awesome! Again, great work and thanks for posting!

Thank you so much. Really appreciate you taking the time to read through ALL that and leaving feedback as well. Hope to have more to post up soon!

Firstly: Great job in helping to resore (as much as possible) a beautiful old classic. And secondly: Your response to Snarky Sharky is right on point.

Keep doing what your doing!

Thank you - and thank you lol. We'll keep it moving, dont worry about that!

Great answers, I for one as you well know am a great fan of your work and a greater fan of your success. It's been fun reading all your reviews and watching you and coach grow your business. Keep going, keep growing, keep the cars glowing. LOL

Thanks again buddy. I have to say though, after reading your last comment about "shake it off"...i was walking through the house and mumbled to myself "damn it!" My girlfriend asked "Whats wrong?" and i told her - i have freakin' Katie Perry's song stuck in my head!

Amazing work on the old GMC. Thank you for taking the time to post this one.

Thank you for the thoughtful response to Shark.

Hey Mike - was a pleasure to post it. Glad you enjoyed the write up on the truck...and on the stupid comment lol.

Thank you for the feedback. It's funny how many people it surprises when they find out we're siblings and work together everyday. So many people say "I'd kill my sibling if i had to work with them!" Im just grateful we were brought up and grew up differently lol. Definitely feel free to shoot me a message anytime with any questions. My contact info is in my signature and on our website...and we often post things up on Facebook as well.

Thanks again for the feedback and kind words - I'm sure we'll be speaking again in the future!

It is pretty sad comments like that and thoughts like that are still around - and unfortunately I know he is not alone in his views. We've had so many people come in and are surprised and sometimes you can tell they're even a bit disturbed to find out a "girl" is not only part owner, but also does a lot of the leg work around here. BUT - after talking with her...and after seeing what she's capable of, I can honestly say that a lot (not all, but most) of the skeptics have become very loyal customers and even friends. Can't always fight fire with fire - so we always try to approach things in a human aspect to try to disarm them with kindness and excellence. I think its a good way to approach life..not always easy, but someone has to take the high road right?

Thank you for the kind words and feedback!

Outstanding job !!!!!!

Will, you and Dani are unbelievably the best team of detailers out there.

I have watched you guys grow and grow. Your write ups are very informative, detailed, and sometimes humorous( which I always enjoy).
Your response to the questioned poster took a lot of thought and in my mind you handled it very well and in a very respectful and professional way.

I love reading your write ups and watching you guys flourish brings a huge smile to my face. I wish you continued success!
Passion
Dedication
Skills
Both of you possess all of these.
Keep it up!

You and Dani always do top notch work and your posts are interesting and informative. Everyone should know that here in Arizona, it's often "Tarzan hot" so mobile detailers have to be tough. I've taken July and August off this year and I don't drive the cars because the monsoon dust depresses me and I'm too old to hack it in the garage when it gets 100+.

You guys rock!

Wholly Mackerel! What a transformation!

You guys really gave that classic some much needed TLC. Nicely done.

Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed the Show 'N Shine.

Great work as always sir! Enjoy seeing your posts and videos on Facebook too.

Mr Shark. - I have just lost a lot of respect for you.

I was alerted to this post via a warning. I think the reply was rather tactful and appropriate to Mr Shark. I see nothing here that was confrontational.

I would be proud to have a relationship with any family member let alone a sister and brother. Congrats. I think a woman can and should do anything they choose to do.

To the original post, nice restoration indeed, and please let me know if you would like changes made to the post. I think it's ok to show the different views in society. Do please send kudos to your sister for the fine work she does and I would be elated to work with her.

Beautiful work!

Also a VERY rare opportunity now days to get to actually work on a project like this with the original paint. Original single stage paint is REAL paint. That is it's resin with pigment. Modern clearcoats are basically plastic and in my opinion not as much fun to work on as restoring the original paint on a classic like this.

After you and your sister did the restoration, if the owners will now simply lightly polish and wax this classic truck once in a while this paint will easily last another 60 years.

Definitely some bragging rights with this project.

Well done.

Very cute tartan turquoise Chevy truck, came out so inviting. It was made (in Canada) when USA was a great country & each car produced then was a museum quality like a piece of art. People who designed cars then (even till 80's) loved their job & got paid accordingly but lately USA makes only Made in China cheap looking low quality cars.

That's why such cars will be always in demand but no new car made today from USA, Europe, Japan will survive more than 20Y or become collectors choice, not to speak about 40-60Y. I see a big demand for classics, if out world will not go tarraramboombam cars are much, much better investment even than real estate.

I agree with the above.

That is back before the 1980's, Detroit turned out rolling works of art that today appreciate in value and attract collectors from all over the world. You can't say that about the majority of new cars manufactured anywhere today outside a few modern muscle cars, (Ford Mustang, Chevy Corvette, etc.) and exotic super cars.

The rest of what you wrote below I strongly disagree with.

to see women do this kind of jobs, I never seen it before, it can happen only in USA.

That's right. It can only happen in the USA. And that's a great thing, not a negative thing.

America - the land of the free, the land of opportunity and liberty. Also a country where anyone can pursue their dreams and choose their destiny. There's nothing wrong with hard work and detailing is hard work. It teaches you to have a strong work ethic and the results from your hard work are very rewarding even without the pay. I love it when ladies attend my classes and the passion they have for the craft of car detailing is just as strong as any guy I've even met.

When I see girls on this forum polishing cars 1st thing comes to mind is that either her boyfriend is a loser & uses her as a cheap labor, or she is lost & needs help urgently (what their parents are thinking about all this!!!) or this is a norm in USA.

Well you're entitled to your opinion and as long as you express it without breaking the Forum Rules then you're allowed to do so on AGO. My guess is your view comes from your cultural background that is simply different than American culture.

I'll just add this in closing...

I've been detailing cars all my life now and teaching classes on the craft for just as long. Women can be just as passionate about the car hobby, detailing cars and earning a living as men. No of us us should restrict anyone be they male or female from pursuing their passion.

I'd also point out that as detailers - we have more in common than we have in differences and we should be celebrating our like minded passion not finding ways to divide ourselves.

:)

Tactful? Really? I just want to remind you of some of the highlights in the post that seemed to get under many respondents skin (I'm taking these directly from the post, so take them for what they are worth):

1. "Does this kind of job only for men"

2. "Terrible & even scary to see women do this kinds of jobs"

3. "But working on a car, polishing paint & chemical dust is not a girls business"

That is not at all tactful. That is flat out saying you feel a woman shouldn't do this kind of job, and it is only meant for men no matter how you cut it.

I agree with the above.

Mike, I appreciate your approach to this situation, but no matter how you spin this it was not called for and some see it as an attack on a member/non-member (Rule #15).

I get that people will have different view points, and I FULLY embrace that, but allowing this to be accepted when it is something negative is a problem in my eyes.

Imagine if someone were to replace some of the words referring to women with another cultural or religious word/group (I should mention that this same poster has gone after a specific group in a past post), would we still chalk that up to accepting a difference of opinions? Is that really what is acceptable by the moderators and by extension AutoGeek? I wouldn't think so, but it's food for thought.

I guess you could say I'm breaking a rule by debating with moderators or administrators (Rule #2), but I see it as disagreeing and being polite (Rule #3).

So whatever consequences AG wants to hand out for me pushing back, so be it. But seeing someone who has contributed so much to our forum (or anyone else for that matter) have his family and business partner criticized because of gender is not something that is okay.

I am so glad to see you guys posting again and even happier that your business has grown dramatically. This GMC truck is one for the history books....the hard work, dedication, detailed write up, and the final product speak volumes to your skills......BOTH of you.

Your response to the 800 lb chauvinist in the room shows both class and breeding. That is something the recipient of your retort will never possess.

Well the good news is this issue with this member won't happen again.

You're good bud and thanks for sharing your opinion on this issue.

Ditto. I noticed we hadn't seen any write-ups recently. I always looked forward to the huge number of pictures documenting the process.

I also noticed the work area looks to be more of an actual commercial garage vs their home bushiness location with a lot more room. Happy to see their success.

Thanks, Mike.

I appreciate all you guys do for the detailing community, and it just frustrates me to see one bad egg potentially spoil how awesome this forum has been.

Wow, thank you for the kind words...you guys say such nice things and I just think damn...I hope we really live up to all that haha. I can promise you we surely do our best. Thanks as well for your feedback on my response to the minnow. I tried to just keep it all within the lines of truth and facts - even though what I WANTED to say was much shorter if you know what i mean lol.

Hahaha, Tarzan hot...thats a perfect description. Funny you're talking about the dust storms...we just had to pack the shop and "batten down the hatches" because a seriously nasty storm is hitting us right now. Needless to say i had to reschedule my mobile jobs I had lined up today!

Wholly Mackerel! What a transformation!

Thank you Mike! We don't get a lot of classics, but when we do...they're always a blast to do thats for sure.

Great work as always sir! Enjoy seeing your posts and videos on Facebook too.

Mr Shark. - I have just lost a lot of respect for you.

Thank you Justin! I appreciate you following on facebook as well. I still enjoy doing my write up's on here but it's SUPER time consuming so i dont always have time, but i do try to keep our Facebook page up to date!
