Fellow Geekers,
Please watch the other videos on you tube, you just got to.
Not a gambler myself, but speaking as a former hack, I'd wager that there are more of these type businesses, generating more $$$ than there are AGO-style detailers.
Bingo. It is pure ethical reasons and a drive to treat people right that keeps me from ordering several gallons of auto magic bc-2, several gallons of cheap degreaser and tire dressing, and going to town.

Alot of you tend to forget where you came from, if you accept you were once a "hack detailer". Even if you learned to detail from the beginning the right way, that's good but believe it or not, there are a couple of things you can still learn from the hack detailing. I was once a hack detailer, I started at the age of 15 and the day I found AGO it was like walking in to heaven from hell. I rather detail 2 cars a day, basic exterior package (wash Discontaminate and wax) and make between $150 - $200. Than having to wash a bunch of cars at 4.99 exterior only, which is the new marketing, and service that has become popular in the hack detailing world. If I was to bash this guy I would feel like a complete ignorant because he may still not have discovered the proper way to detail cars.

Arguably he already is doing stuff "the right way" for his target market.
I really dislike the word or words in this case. Hack Detailer.
It sounds vary derogatory. Good!
If a pro knows the ins and outs but is still doing a sloppy job. Then ok. I see you've read Mike's post on the definition of a hack.rops:
But someone just trying to come up and get things rolling. They shouldn't be called hacks. Kinda see your point...but it is what it is.
I used to wet sand and buff daily. I never knew about clay. They were Hertz cars that had gotten in an accident. So our job was to just fix it and get out asap. Hertz didn't really care. If one spends so long on one car, they then would most likely be replaced. I find it amusing that people talk so bad about body shops, but then their car gets in an accident. So they then go to a body shop.
I've learned some auto body style and now I am learning Detailing style.
So yes I was in the definition a "Hack" but at the same time. Go work for an auto body shop. For pennies and perform to there standards. A lot of you could probably hang, but some wouldn't be able to. That was the beauty of Vegas, working 48 hrs weekly hacking high dollar RV's, then going out after work doing my own thing. One will be amazed at the tips I earned hacking peoples vehicles. What a crazy market.
Idk I like AGO when people have positive attitudes and are trying to help one another. If you see someone doing a "hack" job and they don't know it.
Instead of bringing them down and walking away talking smack. How about you go help that person out and teach him better "proper" ways. I tried that in Tenn. several years ago, but in that small town one couldn't earn a decent living when there were rebuilders (detail side) who could put a flood vehicle back on the road for a $300 payday.

^ this isn't to anybody in general, just speaking to the public.
I actually have therapy on Tuesday and looking forward to it too, they are going to help me get on latter's and step stools. So I can detail Suv's and vans. and not keep falling off. Good luck and God bless:dblthumb2:
...There's a lot of things worse out there then the derogatory word Hack Detailing.
There was a thread here where some of the old timers and young at heart were posting of ailments, and ways to alleviate situations.
With that drive being concrete spend some time cleaning up the spot. One day (or several) when you have nothing to do. Oil-dri sprinked on the concrete and ground in with work boots works wonders. Then move up to degreasers and stiff brush. Eventually, move on to muriatic acid and power washer/15* tip.
Just saying.
I actually learned about muriatic acid at Home Depot. While asking them how to remove motor oil from driveways.
3 years ago I rented a floor buffer, (the big one's) home depot. And I buffed the marble floor at my lady's house. Lol
Buffed and shined it lol, came out really nice too...
If you find that thread, i''d like to read through it. Maybe bump it up if I have additional questions.
If you or other members know of it, pls pm it to me.
Thanks
