Awesome, hopefully this will help to inspire you a bit :)

Persistance and dedication to the craft. Inspirational.
Honestly you hit it on the head, this detail was more about persistance than anything else.

great work. if its not a secret, do you mind sharing what product you used? I'm assuming some heavy degreaser of some sort?
Car Pro Tar-X and a lot of scrubbing with a 1'' boars hair brush.

Amazing job Bill!!! Those wheels were just filthy! I can't believe how new it looks. Your work speaks for itself.

I wish there was some bleeding pictures.
Thanks Marc, I would have liked to take some bleeding pics but I don't like to handle my camera when I have Iron-X on my gloves (and I didn't want to remove my gloves because I only had a few of my 8mil long sleeved left).

Instead of getting paid for the work, offer to buy them cheap! :D Lol, that made sense the when I first thought of it. Awesome turnaround on those neglected rims. It looks like the opticoat smoothed out the texture on the faces, non? It reminds me of the difference between the finish on my wheels and my wife's wheels.
I think that is a great idea. The Opti-Coat made them look dripping wet.

motherofgod! that is like a spanking new rim!
On another forum I was jokingly accused of swapping them out with new rims :D

Bill,

Beautiful Subie BBS wheels and an awesome job done by you to clean them. I need to do that with my JDM STi V7 gold wheels.

Drew
Drew- I hope you have some pictures!

Incredible job Bill :dblthumb2: You are right, they look better than new and will hold up well with the protective coating you applied.

BBS still reigns up there as one of my favorite wheels. Had a set very similar to the ones you restored on a black BMW 320is (that's old people speak ).

 My dad had a 320is back in the day

Fantastic job Bill. I love those wheels! My buddy has a set on is 02 WRX. I will be cleaning them shortly ;)
Sounds excellent

Gorgeous work Bill. I still hope to find a set of those for the Forester at a decent price one day.

Of course color doesn't matter much to me because I will be changing that. :)
Thanks Aaron, and I will probably be making use of your powder coating services in the future. I bet some slightly beat up BBS would be easier to come by.

just curious, you guys ever use acid to clean up rims? Usually when we wash trucks, we flash the rims, hit them with acid real quick, then hit them with soap, it takes all of 20 seconds to do and it removes all brake dust and everything else

I could not imagine having to spend 1.5 hours per wheel lol.

But Dayum those results are sick! Amazing job!

WOW!!! They came out fantastic! Thanks for sharing.

Sure, I really like the Eagle's self etching acid-based wheel cleaner. Onyl use it for not painted and noncoated wheels and if you follow instructions, it works amazing. Just don't let it sit too long to avoid streaks.

I know alot of people use Meguiar's wheel brightner which is also acid based. Haven't needed to use it myself, but it seems to be a nice product.

Standard industry practice at most franchises such as Blue Beacon,Eagle et al-also independent owner operators and many fleet washers nation wide.

Wow they look amazing. Nice through job :dblthumb2:

Those wheels came out GREAT! Really amazing turn around. I have never cleaned wheels that dirty before, now I know how to clean them. :props:

6 hours on wheels is crazy. It usually takes me an 45min-1 hour to clean mine, and I think thats too much.

Wow that is amazing work!! Awesome turn around. :props:

Really nice the gold on them.

Wow, great clean up. I think I can safely say they look better than the wheels on the showroom floor.
