Hello, I'm just getting started with all of this and learning as I go. Today I did my first Real wash and wax. Heres the before pictures:

Re: beginners first REAL wash and wax

I wet the car down and then washed the wheels. I proceeded to wash the car 1 panel at a time with a microfiber mitt and Chemical Guys Citrus Clear. After rinsing car off I then dried with a microfiber waffle weave towel. I then clayed the whole car and waxed with Poor Boys world Nattys paste wax blue. Please let me know what you think and i will appreciate any pointers and feedback. Thanks

Excellent work! This picture is awesome...:props:

Nice job man! The paint really has a whole new depth and wet look to it after the work you did!

Looks no different from the dirty one, there's only a few pictures that make a difference. You didn't spend enough time or you should of invested into more expensive wax. I found wolfgang to be amazing. The hood is the only best picture..lol

I agree w/Nick..that was my favorite picture too...i love when you get a pic that shows different degrees of depth (especially with a panel like your hood that has different curves etc) and has great reflection.

I couldn't tell but, did you dress the tires? Also did you use the 2 bucket method?

I think it looks good...its a nice looking car to begin with but looks real sharp now:dblthumb2:. Just wait until you start buying buffers and polishes and pads..thats when you'll really end up being a TOTAL freakin nut case like some of us here lol

Nitro;
For being a newer poster that is not something you want to start out with!
Brand of wax is not what the OP was posting about! He was posting that he did a first time wash and wax! Lighten up! no need for negativity like what you displayed!

:nomore:

Look at the pics again! there is a huge diff between the first set and the second set!

OP;
Great job! Don't let others push their BS on you! I love the hood shot as well!

Yes i used two bucket method and I did dress the tires but only after i took the pics. I'm just starting out so I have a long way to go lol Thanks for all the feedback. I can't really afford really expensive waxes just yet and from be being just a beginner I figured the Natty wax was the way to go because it offered simplicity and good results. Also, thanks willis!! I have been reading a lot on flex polishers and am starting a fund to save up for one!! cant wait!

I agree f*** the bs! But a real good 50/50 shot is what I like to call the "money shot". So maybe next time if you got some good lighting it will be better. Good job BTW nice car.

Thanks exoticautodetai..for a 50/50 shot do I tape off one side and wax the other to show comparison? If so I'll do that next time :)

Yes sir that would also help

If you're only waxing, no need to do a 50/50 shot. 50/50's are used when polishing.

Nice job on the car. :props:

A 50/50 shot with wax can still show a difference in depth of the paint...especially on a darker color like that. True, 50/50 shots from polishing show MORE of a drastic difference but still wax 50/50 is fine.

I don't even have a flex yet, ive just got my Griots (which i love) and my PC...flex would be a great machine to have...but maybe (depending on how soon you want to get into it) you could find a used PC for a good price to start out with...kinda get the hang of it before you bump it up to the Flex...or maybe you can just go for it with the flex lol...up to you.

Thanks, that does make sense. I'm looking into poor boys black hole glaze until I cab get into polishing. I could do 50/50 with the glaze to see how well it fills in minor swirls, right?

Definitely makes sense to look on eBay for a used PC to practice with. That way I dint have to shell out all the money up front to just learn.. Thanks Willis

50/50 shot on any service you do to a car is still worth it. I've seen interior 50/50 shot.

You have to have something to show a customer. I've gotten customers for wash and wax using a picture.:)

The car looks very nice. The look of Natty's (any color) is tough to beat in a carnauba wax. Now when you get into hybrids or pure sealants there is a bit of difference in the gloss and overall look.

One of the waxes that I get at less than $20 for 16 ounces was marketed through some guy out west in a fancy metal tin with gold leaf and he was getting just shy of $500 for the same stuff so don't worry about getting into the whole "investing in a more expensive wax" foolishness.

There are tons of great products at all different price levels. You've got a great wax there have fun with it and keep posting pics of your work and most importantly of all :welcome:

Why a flex? The Griots is good (which is what I have and LOTS of people recommend). I got my Griots for $91. I'd check it out. You might be able to get it sooner than the flex and work your way up to that. Nice pics! :buffing:

I don't know why I had my mind set on a flex. I think it's because it was the first polisher that I read about and the only one i researched. Now it seems a lot more economical and makes more sense to look at the griots or porter cable. Thanks for all the help everyone
