beginners first REAL was and wax

I don't know why I had my mind set on a flex. I think it's because it was the first polisher that I read about and the only one i researched. Now it seems a lot more economical and makes more sense to look at the griots or porter cable. Thanks for all the help everyone

I spent HOURS researching them. By far the most liked one and recommended was the GG. It was also $40 cheaper on sale (do a google search and spend a few minutes on that and you should find it cheaper than AG). Im the MAN

Thanks Matt! :-) also guys my neighbor asked if I could clean her car and she would pay me. She drives a 2005 acura tl. All I would do is wash, clay, wax, vacuum, wipe down interior, dress interior and tires and clean windows. What's a fair neighbor price?

Looks no different from the dirty one, there's only a few pictures that make a difference. You didn't spend enough time or you should of invested into more expensive wax. I found wolfgang to be amazing. The hood is the only best picture..lol

Nice job with the encouragement Mr. Magoo. Have you thought about hiring out to Hallmark?

Nice work, keep it up and continue reading and learning. I agree with others concerning the buffer.....The Griot's Garage machine will do everything you need for a long long time. The price will leave you some $$ for pads and other necessities as compared to the cost of the Flex alone.

I'd say $75 is a fair price for the Acura. Make sure the windows are spotless. Ladies can spy a dirty window or a spot on it in a heartbeat.

Looks great! :xyxthumbs:

After rinsing car off I then dried with a microfiber waffle weave towel. I then clayed the whole car and waxed with Poor Boys world Natty's paste wax blue. Please let me know what you think and I will appreciate any pointers and feedback. Thanks

Only advice I have is that you don't need to dry the car between washing and claying, since your just going to spray it with lube anyway. Drying between those two steps just adds one more time consuming step and more potential to add swirls.

I don't know why I had my mind set on a flex...

Because it is an amazing tool! So user friendly with convenient control placement, very high quality build... it's the best one... but it is probably overkill for your needs. Get a Griot's and use the money you saved on other stuff. :xyxthumbs:

$0/$50/$100

Depending on her cuteness level and whether or not your single. Im the MAN

Don't be shy to check craigslist either....ive got some really good deals off there...not to say you shouldn't be extremely cautious if you do, but it can be a good source of good deals.

Also w/the griots...they offer a lifetime warranty. I think you'll be happy with it for a first polisher that will last you a long time im sure. I got mine for like $99 new from tooltopia. If you get pads, honestly the best ones ive used so far is the plain ole 5.5" LC Flats. Now that beign said i really wanna try some MF pads like the ones Meguiars just came out with. I have some surbuff but havent tried em out yet.

For the Accura...for CARS I usually charge $70 for wash/clay/wax tires/rims cleaned..tires dressed and interior vacuum/wipe down and dressing on the interior surfaces.

If you have a leaf blower it can save you a lot of time after you wash/clay...it helps get water out of the cracks between body lines...i love using my shop vac/blower in one :).

I did an Accura TL...i THINK the same year as well...about a month ago...it included a single pass polish and a full interior. http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/34431-pearl-accura-tl-single-pass-pics.html

Hope you enjoy :)

No matter where you buy the GG you still get the lifetime warranty?

I've been a HUGE Flex 3401 fan for awhile. However, once the Meg's MF system came out and I used it with my Griot's DA, I don't really use the Flex 3401 anymore.

Willis you did a great job on that car!!! My neighbors looks the exact same but is dark grey and has a ebony interior. Thanks for all the great tips and help

Isn't it nice to get out there and get these cars and truck looking their best!

Superb work and great photos!! :props:

I think the car turned out great and your work really shows! As far as the wax you used; I have some that costs $10 and some that costs $200 and a few in between. My experience is that the prep has a lot more effect on the final product than the cost of the wax. The more expensive stuff does look better but may not be worth the cost in the long run, especially if you are saving for other cool stuff. Turtle wax will look better on a well prepared car than Fuzion on a poorly prepared one.

When I got the "sickness", clay and paint cleansing lotion made the most dramatic difference in the end result (aside from the ability to correct paint by machine).

Your friends and relatives may think you are a kook, but you will be the first call they make when their car needs some serious work. I just took plastic planter scratches out of a friend's Infinity G37S before his wife saw what he did to her car. Got a Jimmy John's sandwich for it too!:dblthumb2:

I definitely got bitten by the bug!!! I can't stop reading and learning about detailing! Also, autogeek makes everything so much better with learning and feedback, thanks everyone

Welcome to the club. It is a fun and rewarding hobby. I use it to escape from the turmoil of real life. No job stress. Just me and my polisher making cars look great.

Machine Polishers are what really take it to the next level. As Rayaz and other s have said, it is more about the preparation than the wax. The machine polishers will allow you to prep the paint like a pro with some practice.

Good luck and enjoy the learning process.

Did the paint cleansing lotion make it that much better? I've always wondered if it was more of a gimmick.

Thanks, that does make sense. I'm looking into poor boys black hole glaze until I cab get into polishing. I could do 50/50 with the glaze to see how well it fills in minor swirls, right?

You can polish by hand. I would recommend an All-In-One (AIO) Two great ones are Duragloss 105 or 501. Apply DG 601 first and you will get amazing durability! These have sealants in them too.
Dont put too much $$ into wax. It is all in the prep! Welcome to the addiction!

Good job, the blue has a good depth. Also, don't let anyone say you didn't do a good job, thats simply rude and uncalled for. Also, you don't need an expensive wax. I use Nattys Blue and love it. It does the job, and looks great!

Yes! It made the wax "lay down" so much better, particularly if you are just adding wax without a polish. It aslo helps get the base off from the polish when you are including that in the plan. I even use it now after the alcohol/water wipe down. Tried it both ways and it does help.

Look into the Megs DA MF System too! I have the GG and it is very good with the best warranty around!
