The Ultra bars look like they would be geared towards new vehicles or cars with less contamination..I have soft clay99 which is true to its name real soft nothing like the yellow clay i purchased from PBS plus the soft99 feels like putty..killrwheels@autogeek said:I really miss the Pinnacle Poly Clay (yellow) .... Ultra's great, but there is just more bite or feeling in those older bars .
Jimmie said:Just received this e-mail in response to a question that I asked. It's from Australia.
Hello Kim, Hello Jimmie-
Actually, the yellow bar is much better than the grey. Here’s the story: The yellow bar was made by ErazerBar, a company that was put out of business by the big guys, who claimed there was a patent infringement. At any rate, the big fish ate the little fish.
The grey was the only bar we could get our hands on for over three weeks. Now, we have a better bar, which is Purple. The yellow bar is still a much better bar, and honestly, even with shipping to another country, I’d want it.
That’s the news, and sorry to switch out for for a less wonderful bar!

A company in Japan first produced clay in the 1990's and somehow AutoMagic got a patent for that in the US even though they weren't the inventors of the system. Over the last few years there were many great clays made under the Erazer name and were like elastic bands. They were very pliable, didn't break apart, didn't marr, etc. These clays were sold by companies like Poorboy's, Optimum, Zaino, Stuf Automotive, etc, etc, etc. They were big bars and yellow. Even though you may see yellow clay on the market today it isn't the same. Most likely you'll find blocks of grey clay, which is AM formulations that companies buy and sell. Companies can tell CM to make special clay for them but that costs a lot of money and you need to buy in very large quantities. So it technically isn't fair to say that all clay is the same... but it is pretty darn close.
