Bissell Little Green ProHeat

I've have and used the Auto model and have had NO problems with it until I bought and use the Duramaid1600.

I'm bumping my own reply to show exactly what I found that worked. This is the Shop Vac attachment that I use- 2.5 Inch Concentrator Nozzle With the Bissel extraction head- Tough Stain Tool

If you already have the Wet/Dry Vac with concentrator nozzle, it's only a $5 investment for decent extraction. :dblthumb2:
 
I bought the Proheat model about three years ago and it came with the turbo-brush. I thought they all did. It also came with the tough stain tool. It was $89 at Target. I'm well pleased with mine.

I got that one from Walmart. In my experience the turbo brush, which is powered by air suction from the extractor head, is terrible. The brush slows down with slight pressure and I assume it reduces suction power. Definitely NOT a "Powerful rotating TurboBrush® loosens and removes deep-down dirt." as the Manufacturer describes. I guess it could be good for a final pass to get a nice even look, never got that far before returning the unit.
 
I have never even tried the rotating brush. Never figured it would work worth a crap.
 
If anyone is interest I got a little green machine. Only used once, I filled up with water in it to test it. Don't have original box. 50+ shipping or best offer. Pm me if your interested.

Just curious as to what solutions you are using?? I have been using an APC from the local guy with great results. But I'm always up to try something new!! Thinking of giving OPC a try next time! Thanks!

There is a switch on the brush. One way it rotates and the other it extracts. It doesn't do both at the same time. I just found this out after not using the turbo brush cuz I thought it didn't work very well. I'll be giving it another try now that I know this.

Thanks for the tip. I was wondering about that.

Since I'm not mobile, I'm considering an upright model with a bit more suction. Maybe the upholstery/stair tool for those would work better with a larger motor behind them.

I was a carpet cleaning tech as a day job for about 7 years... the key to cleaning carpets is not necessarily in the heat of the water but in the prep and dwell time that you allow the chemicals... I got the Duramaid 1600 and it works great but I did run some prelem tests when I first got it... I used many diff chemicals from wolite to folex and DP carpet spotter all had good results but the best were from the DP letting it dwell for about 15 min on heavy soiled carpets after scrubbing... I sprayed it in a mist on the carpet scrubbed it then let it sit then used the sprayer to lay down a bit of water let that sit for about 3 min then extracted the carpets came out amazing the other chemicals came out good too but the problem that I kept running into was that they would foam real bad (the amount of soap not the amount of surfactant) The carpets dried in about 20 min and have stayed nice and clean... You could find the same results using the LGM you just have to make sure that when you spray the water down you only allow it to sit long enough to be an assistant to the chemical not letting it sit and soak into the backing/padding...

I can't afford or justify $700 - $1000 on a carpet cleaner. This unit really steps up to the plate and does a great job especially for the money...

I hear you there... I had the budget line for it and my financere wanted me to get things that would last for a long time... I know that the LGM will last for about a year at the rate that I will be using it so I just went the extra mile cause I was told I could...

Actually it was my father in law (he is the silent partner in the company. I told him he could only talk when the answer is yes... lol... J/K)

I've been using mine for a few years now, like others have already said, for the money, it does a pretty good job!!! :dblthumb2:
 
If it's not raining this weekend I am going to clean my carpets with my bissel. If I can remember I will take some before and afters for you to look at. I think prep is the key. Mine does a good job for what it is. More later.
