I bought and returned a Bissell recently as well. I found that the small extraction head fit on one of my shopvac accessory's. I bought the attachment on eBay for about $8 including shipping.
As for the hot water, it just takes a few seconds for the hot water to get through the tubing... it gets hotter than I expected, but not worth $100 when I can put the extraction head on my shopvac for $8 and use my own brush.
I bought and use the Duramaid1600.
FWIW, on Bissell's website I just found a version called ProHeat TurboBrush Pet, 1425W, unique to Wal-Mart, that includes a rotating power-brush that might improve cleaning.
The specs on Bissell.com are identical to the auto and original LGM.
Bissell ProHeat TurboBrush Little Green Pet Hand Vacuum, 1425W - Walmart.com
I think the unit is awesome. There's much better cleaning solutions out there than the bissel sample. Pre-treating is a must, then extract. Works great for me.
I got that one from Walmart. In my experience the turbo brush, which is powered by air suction from the extractor head, is terrible. The brush slows down with slight pressure and I assume it reduces suction power. Definitely NOT a "Powerful rotating TurboBrush® loosens and removes deep-down dirt." as the Manufacturer describes. I guess it could be good for a final pass to get a nice even look, never got that far before returning the unit.

I can't afford or justify $700 - $1000 on a carpet cleaner. This unit really steps up to the plate and does a great job especially for the money...
I hear you there... I had the budget line for it and my financere wanted me to get things that would last for a long time... I know that the LGM will last for about a year at the rate that I will be using it so I just went the extra mile cause I was told I could...
:haha:
NOTE*** He was TOLD he could................ my wife's the boss too.
