As if a black car wasn't enough...i went out and got a black truck...crazy i know

^I totally agree, its a love hate relationship lol

Black is commensurrate with a doctural thesis to only the mentally stable. But...

Worth it!

Congrats on the truck but on something that big, you really should coat it and forget it!

Don't say the "C" word. I was posting in a forum where a guy said his coating failed based solely on the fact that it wasn't beading and sheeting well...Loads of people chimed in on how they hate coatings and think they aren't worth it (NONE of them have ever tried a coating either). I simply wanted to offer the possibility that the coating was in fact there and that the beading and sheeting were not the best measure for protection and cleanabiliy. Holy Christmas, you'd think I showed naked picture of myself to these people...they were actually offended that I suggest a coating is a good thing. The best part is that the OP (coating user) said that while beading and sheeting failed his car was so easy to clean, but these people totally flaked on me for saying the coating could still be there even though beading and sheeting were poor...pardon the rant, but when I see someone suggest a coating I laugh, and wait for the ragging posts...funny that they are all from people who never have tried a coating.

I love a coating, and very much second Klasse's suggestion.

The color Black IMO is the best looking color on any car, truck or SUV...period! It is also the hardest to take care of!!

A love/hate relationship!

What forum?

Black isn't a color, it's a part time job.

I like to look at black but I enjoy my metallic reds / blues. I like to really make them sparkle :)

Black would cause me to just break down mentally if I had a black vehicle. I'd probably plastidip it to keep my own sanity or coat it, etc.

I bought a black car in 2006. Ordered up a black BMW to replace the deep, dark Orient Blue i had at the time. I said to myself "black will either drive you mad or refine your skills as a detailer to benefit the greater good!".

I have refined my skills immensely. I AM a good shepherd of my master.

I did, however, buy a white car for my betrothed! While being a good shepherd, i ain't dumb...twice.

All kidding aside, i have learned almost everything i know about this craft from owning a black vehicle!

After 4 year+ taking care of my black car, I decided to wrap it.
Too much hassle... too little time :(

I went from a black F150 extended can long bed to a regular cab white f150 a while back. I'll probably never go back to black for a DD again, at least not one that big. The roads are just too harsh on paint around Chicago. The time commitment is just too much for me nowadays.

I am not a fan for coatings on black cars. Until someone finds a way to prevent with the water spots you'll want to polish/paint cleanser way before the coating has run its course. Had a black Volvo for 16 years. I said never again, even though it was the reason I learned to detail. Then I bought a car this fall and guess what? It's black again, but it is the Ford's tuxedo black metallic so not as big a PITA. Solid black is the most satisfying color to polish but so frustrating to maintain.

I LOVE black, my 1999 Camaro SS M6 has about 610HP and is black. But it is a part time job to keep it nice, I agree 110%

I want to get a 1998-2002 NBM WS6 TA for my wife, as she used to have one, I'd would like a black one myself, who knows maybe one day I'll have both...now the 2nd problem, GARAGE!

Just be glad you don't live with a stone driveway :( #whatwasIthinking?

I have to agree 100%! I'm writing my doctoral dissertation right now and I keep asking myself why did I get into this....The same thought for those of us with black cars/trucks.

Yup I've accepted the fact it will never be perfect especially as a DD and being a truck but it still looks better than 99.9% of the black vehicles I see on the road daily
