Blind Samples

Guys this is a BLIND samples thread, it wasn't created for making trades for samples that you know what you're getting.

Yes I know that. I just asked what types of products that the user was looking for aka tire gel, sealant etc...... I am sending them samples to try ( blind of course ) on my dime with nothing expected in return. I do know where the other samples thread is located and that is for people " trading samples " can't people do a good deed anymore without somebody getting all up in arms ? and yes the blind in caps was totally uncalled for. nobody needs to yell at me for doing something nice for another member here. and people wonder why acts of kindness is a rarity these days.

Dubbin was just making sure everyone knew what this thread was for. It definitely wasn't made clear in your post that you were doing blind samples. No need to get all defensive.

It's disappointing that this thread has come to an end. :(

So today our weather was pretty nice, about 68 degrees F. Taking advantage I decided to wash my car in hopes of trying a couple blind samples. After sitting in my garage for about 3 hours to dry, I picked up my bottle of Surf City Garage Barrier Reef, a yellow liquid wax from Dark Horse, and a white paste wax from CEE DOG.

1) Surf City Garage Barrier Reef - I applied this to my hood using a yellow foam applicator. The wax is a little thick and did not spread super thin. Allowed wax to haze for probably 10-15 minutes then removed. A little dust but not much. I "bumped" some plastic on purpose to test for staining, and it did. The surface right now is not that smooth, so I'll check again tomorrow to see if it's better. Right now I'm not impressed.

2) Blind sample yellow wax - Moving on to the trunk and spoiler, I poured a little out on a white applicator pad found at Harbor Freight and spread across paint. Wow! This stuff went on like butter and spread out thin. So easy to apply and smelled great, kind of like banana. I allowed this wax to haze over about 10 minutes then removed. This stuff was so easy to apply and remove! The surface was instantly smooth and very glossy. I'm not going to lie, this is probably my favorite liquid wax I've used in a long time. I would not hesitate to buy this.

3) White paste wax - For this wax I chose the roof of my car and the same applicator used above, only a clean section. This wax didn't have much of a smell, sort of like a crayon box. I briefly rubbed across the top of the wax and began to apply. This was like applying Souveran, very oily. No directions on this so I wiped on, wiped off. Surface was not slick at all but the mf felt oily after removal. I don't care much for this one. I'll check tomorrow to see if the surface is slick.

So Dark Horse and CEE DOG, what are my blind samples?

Richard, the yellow liquid wax that you applied was koala bear urine. I'm glad to here that you enjoyed it. It is often an overlooked, yet effective, LSP that produces great shine and stickiness (ah, I mean slickness, yeah that's what I mean)...The aroma that you noted is not banana, but actually recycled eucalyptus leaf. Ok, ok, j/k. It was actually Meggs #26 High Tech Yellow Liquid. I agree fully with your findings. While I am not a fan of liquid waxes, I have to admit that it is a good, easy to use liquid wax. It produces good results in terms of; ease of use, slickness, beading, sheeting, and dirt release. While I believe that there are other liquids (such as Colli 845) that offer a bigger bang for the buck, this is a decent liquid for anyone that likes liquids, wants to try something different, and is on a budget.

Is this an effective way to knock out detailing competition around the U.S.?!?!?!? Sample: labeled Quick Detailer..... Actually: Acid Wash!!!! That would be mean lol! Next go around let me get in on the fun guys!!! Great thread!:dblthumb2:

I never read this thread. I am down to try to keep this going. I have a couple waxes I can send out. So how about the first three people requesting will get a sample of a mystery wax.

I wouldn't mind trying a new wax :P
