Car Shampoo for ceramic coating?

If one can simply foam a mildly dirty car with one of these soaps and not have to agitate with mitts, that product would be a true winner!

Well as you know THAT product doesn't exsist and think about it, if it did it would enilate all your LSP's, noone wants that, even me

Yeah I chased that dragon for a while and came to Klasse’s conclusion. If made would probably kill a coating.

It is how i found Bilt Hamber AutoFoam and paid almost $70 to get it from UK. Closest you can get. Glad we can get BH in US now.

I’m reading about BH Auto Foam right now on Amazon

I'll be getting some Bilt-Hamber autofoam by the spring to try it out. I stay ontop of my car and have less priced pre-washes like P&S Pearl that do a good enough job because like anyone else, I want to break things down better before the contact wash to make it easier and safer. I've even used pre-wash foamings as a dust removing wash as well, again, no issues with value priced offerings like P&S Pearl. Speaking of Pearl, never used it as a contact wash and that's probably because I've got "better", stronger washes for that, the right tool for the job I say.

Not sure if anyone from AG is watching/reading this but maybe get Bilt-Hamber in the fold here

I wouldn’t be surprised if AG starts selling BH before we know it

Yeah auto foam would be best for winter and fall.

I wish I could wash like that during the winter monthes but I'm outside 24/7 right now, don't have the underground garage anymore and I truely miss it but to quote that saying "RENTS TO DAMN HIGH"...I do have access to my hose during the winter for those "thaws" we get from time to time, landlord just modified the spicket.

I traditionally use Mr. Pink for regular cleaning and WG Si02 Uber every 2 or 3 weeks. Both of my cars are ceramic coated. The Si02 leaves behind a little Si02 behind which enhances the gloss and makes the original coating act like it's newer, and I really like that look and feel.

I have one complaint however about the Si02, as there is a visible cloudy residue left behind where the water drains underneath the mirror housings, door handles, and rear side windows...all places that are the hardest to dry. It also might show up after a rain. It wipes off easily enough...but it's irritating. Interestingly enough, the web site says to use 2 oz. to a bucket (3-4 gallons), but in their product description it is suggested to use 1 oz. I've been using 1.5 oz. Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated.

For pure cleaning power it sounds like CarPro Reset is the real deal. I may want to explore replacing my Si02 with that.

The only complaint i’ve read it it will cause degradation of some sealants and most waxes.

BIlt Hamber had an interesting post on DW.

They said that we basically use LSP’s to make protect out paint and make them look good. A-lot of people are concerned with LSP preservation.

Most damage to paint happens from from improper washing and then we need to polish more.

What is more important removing grime in the most gentle way possible for the paint (touchless) which can damage our paint in the contact process or safest for LSP which is just there to protect paint?

Lastly they mention an LsP is alot easier to replace than a clearCoat

If you read any of my previous post Reset Is a go to and always in my staple as a bucket wash. I’ll try other things but believe me I am not looking nor expecting to find something better.

As a snow/pre foam, it is not worth it. If your looking for absolute cleaning BH autofoam kicks its ass.

If your wanting to stay PH neutral (and my choice for both better foam and cleaning l) would be Griots Surface wash.

The OP said he’s a sucker for thick like shaving cream foam and you can get that from Adam’s mega foam or CG Honey Dew (hasn’t affected my coatings).

In any of these cases you will save money and get a better or as good of a performing product for less.

I finished my bottle of Lyft this late fall and really loved it and it weren't for all this Bilt-Hamber talk here and Pan's video today I would probably be looking for my 2nd bottle but as it so often happens "another pretty girl" comes along

Try 3D pink for regular washes, works better than chemical guys stuff and way more cost effective. I buy it by the gallon.

As far as the water runs from door handles and such...do you use any type of blower to dry? That would help rid of excess water that collects in those places

Are your car washes open in winter? Ones with power washers? I’ll use it there in IK foam 12and then go home and do a rinseless.

Get a Metrovac sidekick. Blow out all the spots that are hard to reach.

Wanted to give lift a try but Bilt Hamber has two pre washes. The talked About AutoFoam and now a new one called Touch-less. It’s sugar based (?) and made to work with there touch on sealant that is water activated.

Bought a 5 liters of it but may get a bottle of lift to compare. If using in a snow foam lance seems more economical as once you figure out AutoFoams PIR i use about a 50/50 mix rhis way and Lift is 10:1.

Using that same ratio in a foamer AutoFoam would be cheaper as it would be .4:1 4oz to 100oz of water.

Koch Chemie GsF:

Haven’t used it but is PH neutral and rates well. Matt from obsessed loves it and although not a big fan he definitely uses products that work.

Also for $10 less you get 40oz more than Reset in the jug. Some say it’s as good as reset as a bucket wash but i probably won’t find out as i’m happy with my soaps.

I am currently cycling through four different soaps after trying far too many to admit too.

This will be somewhat controversial, but in my opinion between Reset and GSF, Reset is easily the better soap. Both are excellent though and I enjoy using both, lets say Reset is 10/10 and GSF is 9/10. Also, in Australia GSF and Reset are priced exactly the same.

This is the order in which I rank my current favorites -

1. Reset -

2. NV Snow (I know this isn't sold here but I wouldn't post this if I didn't believe in it as much as I do, well worth chasing down for you US guys) -

3. Koch Chemie GSF -

4. NV Snow+ (high pH strip wash). This is in 4th because I only use it where required, it is otherwise just as good as regular Snow -

Very late to this party.... Guess that's what I get for "unplugging" over the holiday.

I'm very happy with using Hyperwash on our coated cars. I used Optimum Car Wash in the past with good results as well, but I feel Hyperwash provides better cleaning ability. It isn't as strong as Reset, but it still does a good job.

I just can't convince myself to use Reset as a maintenance product due to price. Ideally, I'd use it 1~2 times a year. Typically in the spring to wash away all the remnants of the salt and grime from winter.

The Bilt Hamber pre wash Coatings used is really impressive. Most if not all pre-washes I've seen barely do anything. This one actually works.

I too am late to the party, and after going through 6 pages, nobody's mentioned the one product I've been using for about 4 years now on my Cquartz coated vehicle, CG's Carbon Flex Vitalize wash. A little goes a long way, smells decent, foams well through cannon, works well with bucket washing too, and has allowed the ceramic coating to hold up very well.
My 4runner was initially coated for 3 years using just this wash and a ceramic detailer (initially Reload, then used Technician's Choice), but is a garage queen and lower than normal average mileage. I do use Reset every 4th or 5th wash now, as I'm going on the second application of CQuartz UK 3.0 that's about a year old.
Unfortunately, CG CVitalize is hard to find in gallon jugs now, and the price is getting up there with better products. Just glad I still have a half gallon left.

Most here hate chemical guys and now we hate you!

I kid. That one was always peaked my interest. It was the first soap i’ve found that added protection aimed at ceramics.

I just like wiping things on the paint that have taken me away from protection soaps and spray and rinse products.
