Checking In and Starting Over Almost from Scratch

Just saw that Griot's is running an orbital sale until the 15th.

Thanks for the heads up

I am still thinking this through and doing some research

I really enjoyed the way my Rupes 15 could take care of larger panels yet still be usable on smaller stuff and I am not sure yet if I want to give up having a long stroke machine

There are so many good machines out there now its going to be hard to choose and I have months to think this all through before I will be in a position to do any meaningful paint correction

I was pretty much counting on things like Black Friday sales that I know everyone will be having

I know several of you guys who are super happy with the G8-9 combo and it is very much in contention

There is also a new player out there in the mini category I have had my eye on and I wanted to see what experiences people have with it over the next few months

And by the way, my replacement Griots Ceramic AIO Wax was in my PO Box when I got back to Alaska

It is a green bottle and I haven't opened it yet but it feels thicker and more cohesive

Not sure if I should resurrect that thread and let folks know or if that's a waste of time

You are 110% on this, exactly what I am shooting for

I used to look at the "wall of stuff" with pride but got to that point of deer in the headlights where I couldn't even start a simple wash because it took too many decisions

I realized after a while I was using 10% of my arsenal 90% of the time

Facts! I know exactly the situation and feeling lol. I'd go down to the basement after telling my wife I am washing my car. After 15 minutes of still being down there she would yell down "Everything OK down there?" to which I would reply yes, just very indecisive. Now I am down and up in 5 minutes and that's with filling the IK and two foam cannons. I am loving the new, lean, and fast process.

What made me really crack down on myself and my detailing habits was using having a little sub skipper on the way in March....time to wash the car will be harder to come by so I am trying to make it so when a chance does appear, I am able to get it done in the allotted amount of time.

Yes....washing my car is a serious concern for this expecting father lol.

I have always been this way in every hobby I have ever gotten into, always gotta have ALL the stuff

My wife was in the service for 25 years and when we moved, they moved us and I just sat back and watched

We carted crap around for 25 years that never saw the light of day or ever got used

After she retired and got her final move on the government's dollar, and it was up to me to make a move physically happen, I got a reality check on just how much crap we had (we still have way more than we need)

When the house in Hawaii sold instantly and I had a very small window to arrange a move back to Alaska we made some hard and costly decisions

I hope with all my heart that the house we are building will be our "forever home" and I don't have to go through this again

I am also hoping that I remember the lessons learned and am able to be content with less "stuff" in my life

Here's to your new forever home and arsenal :xyxthumbs:

Congrats on the impending sub skipper

Yup, kids can make all the difference in available time and available money

Mine are 34, 40 (in 7 days) and 41 and I am still reaching into my pockets for the 2 older ones more than I really should be

But they are the reason we are here in the first place, the cycle of life and all that
