Cleaning leather with OPC

I have not thru the foamer. I have been fortunate to not need to go stronger than 1:1.

The only situation where full strength would cause a problem is if you let it run or there has been a redye. runs tend to clean really quickly and it can take some time to get the areas around them as clean...and Power Clean at any-dilution/no-dilution will remove surface dyes.

Negative. This is the factory leather. No surface dyes. Again, beware and don't use this stuff on your leather - it's too strong.

It will not harm factory, coated, unrepaired leather at any dilution (including undiluted/neat) when used per our directions on the label. I will demo this at detail fest if you like.

That sounds like a good idea, although, I am not going to be there maybe others can benefit. I wish I knew before the color was stripped off of my leather seat. It was only a test section but it's still going to need to be fiexed.

There always seems to be some sort of disagreement about OPC and cleaning leather. :dunno: I've never had any problems, but I've went away from using ANY APC on leather. Why? Just a personal preference.

What is the difference between say OPC and a product sold as a leather cleaner that may contain the same ingredients? That is, I rebottled OPC and called it Leather Cleaner and you did not know about OPC, would it be on your purchase list?

I use Blackfire Interior Cleaner. I like the fact that it uses non-ionic surfactants. APC's do not, as far as I know.

Hi Mark...

I've also heard that amphoteric and zwitterionic surfactants could also be non-ionic in solution. :D

Good choice of using non-ionic surfactants-products...They cope well with varying degrees of "hard water".

So, I tried it today with a terry towel and Swissvax brush. Also, tried it with a 1:1 OPC and Zaino Z-9 - same result. :-(

Would the LM Strong Cleaner work better than OPC?

I would suggest trying OPC again. The label directs you to use 3:1 for most cleaning jobs and less diluted or even straight for tough cleaning. According to your post you used it at almost double the dilution that we recommend. I admit I make my own dilutions for specific cleaning, but I would recommend following the directions before I stopped trying power clean or bought another product. Also, the SV brush is not the best choice for cleaning leather. A short bristled horsehair or soft nylon nail brush would be a better choice. Finally, if the stain is dirt/sweat/grime OPC will remove it, however, if it is dye transfer from clothing it may have penetrated the panel and is there to stay. If that is the case you'd need a ready to restore the color.
