CMA Closing

Yeah I know.

It's just that I consider them my friends and while they are out of a job I feel like I'm picking up scraps.

They would rather them make a little money than to just have tons of product laying around and losing money.

I'm stunned! They just revamped their site, what the heck happened? Well, good luck to those that lost their jobs. I didn't budget for it, but it looks like I'm going to have to pick up some BFWD. I'm really hoping AG picks up that line.

PAC was the first high end products I eber purchased in 2002. I purchased $200 of stuff I dont need. But I feel like we are helping them out and not stealing. I am sure they didnt lose $$ by selling the Flex @25% off. On the CMA products I bought, they are making less but arent losing anything. I hate to lose competition in the market and feel for them.

Just picked me some scraps! A Flex DA and 5 HT pads for $300. SHHHH, don't tell the GF.

I really am sad to see them go. Jack sent me a graduation present in december after I finished college. Did he have to do that? No he certainly didnt but he did and I really appreciated it.

AG that is a class act move of you to not compete with them at this time. I really respect AG for that.

I needed products like I needed a third eye but I went ahead and picked up a gallon of MF compound, 32oz BFWD, 3 cans of tarminator, and 2 pacs of MF cutting pads.

Sorry to here this PAC but you will be in my prayers.

Jon

I shouldn't but I did and the wife said I could. Imagine that! I added the Flex PE14-2-150...OPT Spray Polish...Set of 3 carpet brush set and 2 boars hair brushes. I'm glad I could get caught up on some brushes I needed.

Today must be my lucky day...:dblthumb2:

Ugh been so used to getting shipping for free that it hurts seeing that charge....

Than again I feel like a vulture ATM picking away at a carcass:(

I'm really baffled why they would launch a nice, brand new website, then close?

Eh...business is bad, so you figure maybe a new website will turn things around, and by the time you get it all done and paid for it's too late, you're insolvent, and having a going out of business sale...

If running a business and crystal ball reading were really that easy, businesses would never go out.

They also had issues with their server because of some lightening strike in Florida. I am tryin to work out my order I have placed around June 17..Since they are having issues with orders, my order hasn't shipped and its been 5 working days I been waiting. I really hope my order does get shipped, as my credit card has been charged the whole amount.. Todd from PAC been very helpful so far, I hope I get my stuff before they close.

Exactly. Sometimes it's just a perfect storm and all the planets align in ways you wish they hadn't.

This doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside...

The business answer is cash flow - not enough money in to cover ongoing operating costs and liabilities.

I think CMA could had been more innovative in competing with AG and other niche detailing suppliers.

Honestly I think it's really tough to compete with AG. They have developed such a "critical mass"; when you get to the size they have, they have so much buying power they are able to get really good pricing, and they have economies of scale in other facets of the operation. And once you get to be such a big player, you get a lot of attention from your suppliers when you are their biggest reseller. And then they have their exclusives--I remember when FK1 blew up and another soon-to-be-defunct little detail product reseller thought he might get to be the new FK distributor...until AG announced they were going to be the exclusive online FK distributor.

It's the same kind of argument about how easy would it be to get into the airliner business now when Boeing and Airbus are so big? When there were more companies and they were all smaller, maybe you had a shot at it...but how big a "start" would you have to make to compete now? Or to open a "mart" store...I was just hearing how Wal-Mart is the biggest company in the world, with 2.1 million employees and 8500 stores...if you were Sam Walton today, could you start a little "mart" store and get anywhere competing against Wal-Mart, Target, and K-Mart/Sears?

PS This isn't me knocking AG, just an observation of how business works today in this global economy.

We have businesses closing up shop regularly here. Many of which have been around for decades

Its a tough economic climate, and I see no relief for years to come

Its a sad situation no matter how you cut it

Don't get me started, Flash! Well, one positive sign for the economy is that CEO salaries are up, right...right?

First, I am very sorry for Angelo, Jack, Todd, and all others involved.

As far as the sale goes I went to get some wheel woolies and they are gone... Well, I got sucked in anyway and lets just say I ended up with free shipping. Oops. That was my first order at PAC. I almost made an order for those woolies a few times but they were always so expensive.

I really didn't need anything but went ahead and picked up the new Flex rotary....at that price you really can't pass it up....made me feel like a slime though for some reason. :(

Same here, I had held off on the Flex waiting for a sale to come along but this isn't the way I wanted my purchase to happen. Felt a bit like a vulture to carrion...

I wish nothing but the best of luck to CMA employees and their families.
