Coated my tires today and WOW,

Just tried it out on my parents charger. Gotta say, it looks fantastic and was easy to apply.

Here's some more proof of how awesome this product looks, just applied the 1st coat on my wife's DD, 2007 Mazda 6!

After riding around for a while I decided to apply a 3rd coat, three times a charm, right, LOL!

I've been thinking about this too, Turtle Wax and their advertising, or should I say lack of it. They had/have a great product with their rinseless wash, but falls short with the directions. Only the last sentence tells you to use the 2 bucket method, fail! Then NO commercials for it. I've always said a "grass roots" campaign should be in order to show people what their products can do. Keep it simple here, rinseless wash, wheel cleaner and this new tire coating, think about it, your basic carwash is wash the car and clean the tires and wheels and dress the tires, Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS). Maybe a regional tour for this and although I'm no professional I have the gift of gab and when I believe in something strongly the passion just flows out of me. Find local cruize nights, get in contact with their organizers and just do a car right there on the spot, some random car that needs a good cleaning, God knows thereks enough of those around!

Tires are looking good.

Turtle Wax has some sleeper products but in my opinion they need to revamp the ice line and make that their boutique brand.

I have been thinking about trying the endura shine trim restorer to see how that works.

Ok so we're over my wife's parents house and I parked near a tree that sprayed light drops of sap, so I hit the quarter wash to rinse off the sap. While I was at it I sprayed down the engine bay too and the soap and water did get on the tires and guess what.......

TIRES LOOK GREAT, they even dried themselves! I did spray some QD on a small mf towel and just wiped them down for the hell of it. I can't wait to see how long and how well the sheen holds up with this stuff!

I have 3 coats on mine, going on many weeks, if I take it through my car wash at work they look great after they dry. If I wash them with onr at home they look great when they dry. I drive past a couple rock quarries every day and my car sits outside like 1/4 or half mile away from them so I get lots of dust on my car each day and week so the tires get quite a work out in dirt and dust. When it rains I get all that nice dirt and dust sprayed up all over the car and tires but it comes right off. This stuff has been the best tire stuff I have used by far just on ease of cleaning after application before I was putting a new coat of whatever on each week or so

Turtle wax has potential they have probably quite a bit of R&D money but the average joe just doesn't seem to wash their own vehicle these days. So who knows what and where they come up with the product ideas from.

Great post Matt, good info and updates, really appreciate it!

Just coated my tires this weekend with TW... looks a bit grey.
Anyone else?

So it looks grey on the tires? First time I'm hearing about this. It looked black on my tires.

When first applied, the TW tire coating has a unique hue, a grayish/purple is about the best way I can describe it. That said, it dries in 10 mins and has a black sheen and completely dry!

When you look at the tires at an angle, they look great but when directly looking at them, seems slightly grey.

Maybe I over did it.... I probably did about 6 coats of it if not more.

As long as they had proper time to dry I see nothing wrong with 6 coats. Do they have this grayish look after cleaning or no?

my experience with tw was not good. this product is a nightmare to remove once it becomes dirty and turns brown. i think u will have to request your wife for another 3 times cleaning to remove the 6 layers. ill recommend just do not apply soo many quotes for it...one to two quotes should be good to go..u can always top it with more if you do not like it though...

Could the brown on the tires just be the coating all gone and the tire being dirty?

No... after I washed my tires they pretty much looked like brand new tires with no dressing. Not sure if it has anything to do with it but the tires are Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 All-Season.

It doesn't look bad... just that it was something unexpected. I assumed it will maintain the same look as when it was wet.

Thanks c8n and it could have something to do with the rubber each mfg uses, I'll keep the group updated for sure. It was supposed to rain the past 3 days and it hasn't, so I can't report anything...other than the fact that my car is dirty because I've been working on someone elses car, LOL!

I have to ask, did you use the aerosol spray coating or the one with the foam applicator? This forum thread is referring to the product that comes with a a tire cleaner, tire coating, and a foam applicator and gloves. This product is removed easier with the supplied cleaner than it is to apply the coating IMO, and the coating is easily applied.

A lot of confusion has happened here due to TW having two very different tire coatings.
