Coated my tires today and WOW,

For some reason I have the same problem with low profile continental tires. They don't seem to get a good coating on them.

I will try to snap one. To be honest it did rain this past weekend so I am sure it took some of the shine out of them.

This is a permanent ccoating, it's made of acrylic and dyes... so 1 rain storm will not affect it in any way. Just wash the tires with water and it should come back to where it was.

The problem is they weren't that great to begin with. The pics are after a wipe down after it rained.

They look like the tires on my wife's Mazda 6, PureContacts and if that's the case I don't get it. I will say that in the one pic the tire looks half done from what I see.

Just a quick recap of my experience:

-The tires on the Abarth had a good base of Pinnacle Black Onyx/DP tire gel and were cleaned twice before I applied 3x's TW tire coating. Applied June 12th and they have a nice, matte finish after a month, but not like the first couple weeks but its to be expected. Lots of rain, rinseless washes and a few touch-free washes.

-The tires on my wife's Mazda 6 was applied a week after mine and had an ok base of tire dressing laid down, mix of mutliple dressings but were cleaned twice as well. Had to re-apply to the p/s because she used the tires to park the car, did 2x's there and once on the d/s to even it up.

-The tires on my buddy's brand new Mazda 3, actually replaced the OEM tires with the same tires my wife has on her Mazda 6, Conti PureContact. No base dressing laid down, tires cleaned down to where they were dry to the bone, then applied 2x's TW coating. This was done about 3 weeks ago and lots of rain and they STILL look great, probably the most legit test I've got going on right now. I will snap a pic of them next time I'm over there.

Based on the 3 above cars not sure how much prep plays into it because my tires had monthes on dressing laid down, so a good base was there and I never got them cleaned and dry to the bone and on the other hand is my buddy's Mazda 3, time will tell what comes of it.

Thanks for the responses.

They are Conti Extreme contact DW in front and DWS out back. The pass rear tire is actually only 2wks old and hasn't had any other dressing on it before this.

I took another look at them this morning outside and they look decent. Maybe I am just being to critical about it. As far as the tire looking half coated it's just the lighting in the picture due to being in my garage.

The 2 week old Conti could have the shipping "stuff" on them still. I've noticed they have this film on them but I'd like to think you'd already have cleaned that off.

There's no doubt that all rubber isn't created equal. Smokin', maybe after a week, clean the tire good again and apply 2-3 more coats and let's see what happens. Btw, DW's and DWS', might wanna go with the same all around, surely the Goat needs the DW over the DWS I'm thinking, LOL!

I meant to say I have the DW's out back and DWS up front. That's what came on the car when I bought it and the fronts are still almost new. Once I need fronts I will go with the DW up front too. LOL!!!

Anyway the new tire I wiped down with solvent to get rid of the factory ink marks that come on the side wall of a new tire. So it was definitely stripped clean. As well as the others.

I will def give it another shot. I will try to get a daylight photo and see what you think.

I just had my work van washed today and when I get done for the day I'm going to clean the tires and let them dry overnight. Then tomorrow I will apply 2x's TW tire coating. This is going to be the ultimate test as I drive 150-200 miles a day and go through everything!

Keep us posted on the GTO over the next couple weeks.

Will do! If I can go that long without recoating.

I know its tough but for the 1st couple weeks your tires will continue to look like that, even after washings and unless you drive through downpours for a week, well, this stuff holds up great in the rains too, even a downpour!

I cleaned and treated my work van tires this evening, will take pics tomorrow.

Funny that you say that. I live in Florida (Near AG headquarters! ) and it's rainy season here! It's been raining bad every afternoon for a week. This stuff is going to get put to the test!

You might need to post weekly pics then, LOL! I think you'll be surprised how long this stuff does last in the rain, especially with the base you've laid down already and the additional 3 coats, please keep us posted.

Today was the day, I decided to re-apply the TW tire coating after 28 days. I sprayed the cleaner on a mf last night and wiped the sidewall. This morning I applied a single coat, the spout was clogged so I took off the cap, placed the applicator over the top and dispensed it that way. I will apply 1 more coat when I get back from the gym. Looking forward to this 2nd coat for sure!

Here's my work van tires coated with 1 coat of TW tire coating, yeah 1 coat! Let's see what 1 coat can really do! The tire was cleaned very well and there was NO dressing on the tire before hand, a good test indeed!
