Coated my tires today and WOW,

So the included cleaner isn't that good, what's a sutiable replacement that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I love the TS stuff, but it's too pricey when I usually have to apply 4-6 coats. I've tried multiple APCs, and didn't get great results. I'm not expecting to find something dirt cheap, but cheaper than TS would be good :D

Adam's APC or I've heard Meguiar's D101 is very good for tire cleaning too.

SwanicYouth did a review on Mother's Back to Black Tire Renew. I'm not sure if that's the exact name, but it seemed to work really well! Available OTC

I still think Bleache-White does a great job and if you use it with a foaming sprayer, even better!

Zep 505 from Home Depot. It's like $8 per gallon. Better than anything I've ever tried on tires

Thanks Killa, I need to get some of that, especially for that price! Does it need to be diluted or no?

I bought the mothers back to black tire cleaner based off review here to use on my winter tires I will be coating coming up

Many people seem to have different results with different cleaners on different tire products. I think it takes trial and error or perhaps specifying what tire product you are trying to remove. Like I think the DP gel is hard as heck to remove.

No dilution necessary. Even extremely dirty tires I can get away with one round of cleaning, it's that good. Here's a Tahoe I did last week with it before and after. Of course the after picture has dressing but after cleaning I can wipe the tire with a white towel and NO dark residue comes off the tire.

Wow, that tire was filthy! I'm gonna pick up some 505 and some spray masters on my next trip to HD after seeing several people mention it

Amazing turn around there, did you use the 505 on the wheels too, just curious?

Put some on my car last night. I must say it is very glossy. And I only did 2 coats although it was laid on pretty thick.

We'll see about endurance

2 coats is enough for sure and it does go on somewhat glossy at first but usually tones down once dry. Because its so watery you really don't need to lay it down thick. That said, post some pics and keep us posted.

It seems that most of us just clean the tire real good, with either the provided cleaner or something else. Pre-cleaning is key here but the TW tire coating isn't as "fussy" as other tire coatings.

Even on a DD you should get a solid 4-6 weeks out of an application of the TW tire coating, this all depends on how you like the tires to look. I usually go 4 weeks on my own tires but its not because they're brown but just to "re-fresh" the look, that's all. I've posted what 1 coat looks like on my work van and after a carwash, the tires are still black, just a nice matte finish, about what a new tire looks like.

Yes, I was very aggressive on pre-cleaning the car. Used purple cleaner and scrub brush. Went over it a few times

I'm just glad we're getting some good OTC stuff. Don't really want to order everything online.

Would be nice to have a store carry all Optimum, CarPro, Chemical Guys, Adams, Poorboys, Wolfgang, etc (I know, wishful thinking)

There is such store, its called AutoGeek, well, if you live in FLA, LOL!

I didn't know they had a retail outlet

Well I assume you could go right to the warehouse and buy products right there if your local or are in the area, just sayin'.

That is pretty sweet if you could. But would be dangerous to the wallet

I did re-apply the TW tire coating today, 2 coats.

I first sprayed Purple Power on the tires and let it sit, then did the DG rinseless and once done with that, then cleaned the wheels w/ CG's Sticky Citrus and then rinsed down the tires, wheels and wheelwells at once. The tires looked nice and clean when I was done, probably could've went another couple weeks but having a show to check out today as well as tomorrow I wanted it FRESH!
