Collinite 845... Now what?

UQW after each wash is a great booster. Better yet, buy a gallon of Megs D156.

that makes me laugh because i STILL have that feeling everytime i need or want to apply 845.... ish is amazing

Stop it guys! You're going to make me want to run out and buy some.

I've sworn to myself that I will not buy any more new (to me) LSPs for a while until I start using up some of what I have already.

c'mon all the geeks are doin it..

only $18 buttttt WARNING as a result of using Collinite 845, you may to abandon old inferior products you have that dont have the durability and sexy sheeting action 845 offers.

OR you could always do a product test swap with someone on the forum to try it :dblthumb2:

It was too hot to even think about doing it today, humidity is crazy, 90 degrees before noon, are you kidding me, damn! I found a shade tree in a parking lot, parked under it and wiped down the car and wheels with my "super QD" and cleaned the windows w/ my Carquest aerosol cleaner, atleast I did that....threat of storms today, oh well, the car sat out in the rain and I HAD to do something!

Once the humidity dies down and I do a rinseless, I'm applying some Collinite #845....FOR SURE!

I'm currently in the rose-colored glasses/early dating phase with Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 right now. Liking it a lot... ooo baby!

I have a sample of that and honestly, "cheating" on my other products with that is perfectly fine, it flat out produces results, love the stuff, BIG TIME!

I had to clay some darn water spots, now my car has no wax except the Pinnacle WW and it is hurting to know that I took off the 476s lol

In my 43 + years playing with waxes and sealants there is one thing I have noticed. Using waxes (Carnuba products) the pictures with billions of little beads looks impressive. However when the sun comes out and cooks those little beads you have billions of water spots. Using sealants such as Zaino, Duragloss etc. where they tout sheeting over beading I have not had problems with water spots. The pictures after the rain etc. do not look near as impressive as the beading shots but I can live with it. Some may think I am dead wrong on this but it is just my $.02 on the subject.

I love DG sealants. They sheet like crazy and I don't have the water spot problems anymore. After it rains and dries my paint still looks great.

The only time I ever had water spots is when it didn't rain hard enough to sheet the water off.

I found 2-16oz. bottles of Collinite 845 for $15.00 shipped..It will last me for years since it only takes less than a ounce to do my car.

I found 845 with Megs 151 spray wax the perfect match for me. I spray wax every 2 weeks and use Megs 156 [ I believe that`s the number] of the quick detailer in between..The car always looks great.. I do my wifes the same also.

That's a great deal!!

Hey JimJC, nothing wrong with your methods but keep in mind that the Meg's D156 is a spray wax, not a QD. Not familiar with their D151 but I love the D156, alot!

That's a steal on the Collinite #845, WOW!

I just applied a coat of Collinite #845 onto my car this morning, went away for about an hour and 45 minutes later and then removed it, came right off and now I'm looking forward to heading to work in a bit....although its hot as hell outside!

You're completely right. Beading is crap next to sheeting. That's why in my just half a test episodes I test beading for maybe 10 seconds and sheeting for like 30 to 40.

Sheeting is way more important imo as well.

The sheeting is good from a standpoint that the water just leaves the car but you know what, nobody reports sheeting for some reason.......why?

Guess I am just use to the sheeting. I used Zaino exclusively for 14 years and Duragloss for 2 years. I thought everyone knew about sheeting as it has been around for a loooooong time. I noticed sheeting benefits after starting the Zaino regiment and never looked back to Carnuba beading and fighting water spots.

HAHA I keep getting those numbers mixed up. I used to buy the products in bottles with a name not numbers at the store until coming here and finding out if I bought them in the large sizes I could save a lot I use the 156 synthetic and the 135 which is the detailer. All great stuff.

Yea it`s hot here also 95, not the time to do waxing/detailing but may be cooling by the weekend.

I almost always top 845 with a nuba unless I am in a rush.

^ You mean 845 is not itself a carnuaba wax? What is it then?

I know some will claim 845 as a wax and they are correct to an extent...I have ALWAYS treated 845 as a sealant and it has worked wonders for me...

^ You mean 845 is not itself a carnuaba wax? What is it then?

Its essentially a hybrid of caranuba and synthetics

From the collinite website:

A user-friendlier version of the No. 476s paste, No. 845 stands as Collinite’s most legendary product to date. Famous for its versatility, durability and DIY ease of use, “IW” is ideal for both small and large surface area jobs where lasting protection and timely job completion are desired, but hard buffing and frequent reapplication are not practical. Leaves behind carnauba shine and durable coating that preserves finish and shields against the elements; UV, rain, snow, salt, dust, dirt, grime, bugs, staining and more. Handcrafted and poured in the USA.
