Discounts???

I've always said it. For every bad customer you let hit the road...you make room for a good one. Let him go. $50 is crap money if you're doing quality work.

Put it this way...we have a large venue coming up in a huge parking lot, where we'll be offering an express spray & shine service on bikes. It will probably take us roughly 10-15 minutes per bike...we are charging $50 for that. So, something that takes you hours...should be worth the money.

Aim for $50 an hour. If they wanna bring you multiple vehicles...give them a percentage off the 3rd vehicle, and the 3rd vehicle ONLY. Don't give a discount across the board cause he may have you do one...then not show up with the second and third.

I agree with Kristopher 100%. I charge $50 an hour for everything that I do detail related and $85 for the mechanical stuff that I do. I work with some wholesale accounts and they get a 10% break because they bring me at least 3 cars a month. I do very little advertising so I rarely have to deal with price chiselers anymore. I've worked for peanuts for long enough, and I suspect that you'll be saying the same thing once you've been raked over the coals long enough. Good luck.:xyxthumbs:

Walk away from the offer, There are PLENTY of other people who would like to have there car polished and waxed for $250.

I get asked for discounts frequently. I always tell them the first vehicle is 'regular' price and we can discuss others once I'm finished with the first.

I thought it was $150 per car at first, too, which would be a big break even compared to $250 for the SUV, but $50 apiece isn't enough for a wash, clay and wax, exterior only. I say you can offer discounts as an incentive so long as you still make at least $15 an hour.
