Easiest and Hardest Colors to maintain?

easy -- light metallics
hard -- black and white

one the flip side......wouldn't black be easiest to correct since it's easier to see your corrections?

That's a hit or miss... Yes it is easier to see while paint correcting but harder to maintain. White sucks when it comes to paint correcting and polishing but from 5ft away you won't notice a difference.

So in essence for me black/white hardest easiest is silver

Easy - Light colors including metallics like silver
Hard - Dark colors including reds and orange

Silver. Had a silver Gti for years. It was the easiest vehicle to maintain by far.

Silver: easiest
Black: hardest

The fact my sister wants a black car stresses me out. She doesn't know what it takes to keep it looking good.

IMO they are in reverse proportion to how they look well maintained. A black car perfectly detailed is amazing. A silver car is well it's a silver car. Hard to make it look bad or good. I guess it says something about me that I have owned more silver cars than I can count and NO black. Just Don't have the time to keep a black car.

Absolutely!!!!! Silver is a PITA to polish!

However, black shows EVERYTHING!!! I've owned 1 black car, never again!!!! 95% of my cars have been silver. Silver lacks the depth of black, but the fact it's very hard to see defects, that's huge in my book! Silver can still look glossy. It's my favorite color, by far.

If you try inspect silver metallic paint in the sun, as though you wanted to look for swirls, you can't because the metallic flakes act like mirrors and reflect the sun back at your eyes to the point it can hurt, therefor you can never really see the swirls.

When not in direct sunlight, the metallic flake UNDER the flake attracts the focus of your eyes and you see past the clear to the flakes, thus you don't really see the swirls, (unless they are horrifically gross).

And there you go...

:D

I really dislike silver and I am getting to really hate my black car as it is lucky to make it out of the garage before it looks like crap.

Has anyone had experience with the pearlescent type colors like the beigey-white or opal like color that are out there ? Just searching for an interesting yet maintainable color for my next car.
