Fashion vs Function on Shampoo Buckets

REALLY tempted by the clear buckets like ADS is selling. I need it like a hole in the head. If the ADS was the same size as my other buckets I might have grabbed one.

* probably right at twenty years on the oldest of the orange buckets and ten years on a blue one I grabbed up to differentiate when I need to.

This may or may not bother you, but know that the clear plastic is not as durable as other plastics and will easily show scuffs/scratches. And I say that as a ADS fanboy.

I did too, hence being bummed that the new MTM foam cannons don't fit on it properly, the black adaptor plate the cause.

Because I almost always clean wheels while seated, moving from wheel to wheel without getting up is where its at. Hence the bucket dollies. The bracket to hang the foam cannon meant everything I need is easily moved from wheel to wheel. So, I ended up coming up with a different solution. I'm probably going to be laughed at for this, but it works!

1/4-inch quick connect bracket from Amazon. These ones are a push to release type, which is handy here because its not a two-handed fiddle to disconnect it (and get your mind out of the gutter at the thought of me fiddling with something between my legs).

Four self-tappers had it secured to my detailing seat and has remained sturdily attached ever since.





Turns out this arrangement works better than the bucket bracket.
 
So this type of seat that a lot of you guys like is 14" tall

My bucket and seat are 18" tall

I stacked some stuff together to a height of 14" and sat down and almost couldn't get back up

That extra 4" makes all the difference to my knees

Occasionally when I've been working down low for too long, scooting around whichever car, doing the trim usually, I'll get a sudden cramp in one of my hamstrings, and then have to quickly straighten that leg out, trying not kick the car while I'm doing it, that ain't fun.

Been there and done that

Honestly I was to the point that the rocker trim on the little blue car was getting a lick and a prayer

Just too damn low anymore

I was watching the new guy across the street washing his LOUD Ram pickup the other day and he was sitting down on the asphalt driveway washing his wheels

Yeah, that's not happening

Doesn't work for me at the moment but if/when I go back to having traditional garage I'll have a Vyper shop chair. They are the Bentley's of shop chairs (and priced like it, too).

Ditto…..bit the bullet end of ly and purchased the vyper shop chair. Yes expensive but at 64 I love it. Built like a tank and so easy to maneuver in the garage and driveway. Saves my back and knees. Quality product. Should be for the $$$$.

I've got the garage, but the space is tight, if I tried to roll around on my stool in the driveway, I'd end up rolling down the street. My neighbours doorbell camera would capture the action though.
