CD test - I've questioned the validity of this test before.
I used a brand new CD, looked it over very carefully with my Brinkmann Swirl Finder light, and preceeded to test some of the items that touch the paint during wash/dry. Things tested were the boars hair brush for the paint, boars hair brush for wheels, a big assortment of quality MF towels (plush, supreme, waffle weave), quality wash pads, grout sponges and an absorber.
While a many of these items passed the CD test without the Brinkmann, adding the light showed something interesting to me. Everything was scratching the CD except for the wheel boars hair brush, grout sponge, and absorber.
I've switched to grout sponges for washing, leaf blower drying, and the absorber for blotting. With that said, I still have doubts about how much of what happens to a cd has anything to do with clearcoat.
I think the ones I got, looking like they had a flat waffle weave surface, are quite different from the ones that the original poster has. And like i said above, the first Walmart I went to only had the waffle weave looking ones...second had the waffle weave looking ones but also one that looked like the original poster has...both were in the same spot and packaged the same way. Id say maybe be careful if all your store has is the waffle weave kind...maybe just buy one and see how it works before you buy multiple. Then again, they're only $4.
Yeah, I have at least 90 of those in one state or another around the garage. Useless as a buffing cloth, they really mar. But terrific for wheels, rockers, under the hood, jambs, and almost every surface in the interior. I use them as my general-purpose shop rags now, way better than the bulk shmatte T-shirt scraps from auto parts stores and PBEs.I love the Yellow MF's from Costco; you get 30 for $15.99; they are usually right next to the Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo.
This master blaster thingy....Does it remove polishes and waxes too? Sounds cool.
I googled Master Blaster and I won't even tell you some of the obscene and down right nasty things that came up...
not a problem posting my finds, as i said i just try to help out the people who cant afford to plop down hundreds of dollars a week at autogeek......
see i knew people would like this find...deffinatly beats the 25$ for the guzzler HD, sure id love these towels to be bigger but with only one needed to dry a normal car its not a big deal, now if some of the top detailers on this forum would give them a shot i bet they would like them also...i dunno why it created such a stir early on glad the tune has changed now that people are buying them and proving how well they work for the cheap price.
yes i have seen the WW variation online but not in store, im guessing the WW ones are a different blend of microfiber, i haven't a clue, if i could find the WW ones id give them a test but i will look next time i am at wally...and i really find it weird that some are WW and some are normal microfiber. i know the ones sold at bed bath and beyond are made by same company and are usually the WW ones...ah well try using them for blot drying see how it works.or give them a wash and re try.also read on the forums most waffle weave towels work better as they get used..
guys, think i found an even better micro towel at wm. brand is detailers best, 22x29.5, softly hemmed, fabulous quality, and will dry an entire car wo wringing out, $6.98 each. bought 3 and love them. think ag should look at these. nick please note.
hope this helps.
