Frustrated with Microfiber

I have been running ongoing tests on micro fiber for about a year now. And the end result it the same: After the first wash and dry, I can see millions of little lint fibers on my glass and mirrors after using the microfiber.

I have used everything from Cobra to the cheapo autozone cloths or Target or anywhere that sells Microfiber.

I have used hot water, cold water, air dry, low heat dryer, detergent, DP orange powder, oxy clean.

I will say that after the load is done I put it on a second rinse and add a cup of distilled white vinegar. The softness cant be BEAT! And ive never had an issue with wax residue still on the cloths. But as stated no matter what brand, or what method I wash a new cloth, I get lint all over my windows and mirrors.

At this point I just want to know what to clean my glass with that is LINT FREE! I cant buy new MF everytime I want to detail a car. Im only having this issue with the glass.

Oh and I use either water or Stoners Invisible GLass to clean windows.

Did you try a MF for glass?

Not sure what you tried but all you said was cobra and autozone.. Have you tried any others. I have read on other various forums that cobras lint Alot. now good towels I hear about are poorboys mf towels everyone raves about how good they are. Search on this forum about them and also pakshak towels.. Either or have both great reviews from LOTS of people.

Also are you drying with heat? dont dry with HEAT. I do mine air only dry..

Use a Pakshak waffle weave glass towel...equals no lint. Do not mix your glass towels with your reg. mf's when washing.

Those are the best towels I have and using a Microfiber Glass towel is paramount to achieving a streak and lint free windshield.
 
Washing all towels together. Never thought of that.
Ill have to try out Glass towels. Ive heard of PakShak (sp) before, I think Ill try those as well as Poorboys....Might just throw all of them away and start fresh!

Try huck towels, which are actually surgical towels. you can get them at ECR wipes.

No lint at all. Strong and manageable.

As others have mentioned, wash them by themselves, use liguid detergent.....and very importantly do not wash them in a machine right after you have washed your greasy rags or even your wax removal microfibers. I do a regular load in between just to make sure the tub is clean.

Strongly urge you to check out pakshaks and poorboys I have an order of poorboys coming today actually pretty excited my first Mega plus towels that everyone raves about.

Same problem I have had with every one of my cobra towels. You would think that with as much as they cost they wouldn't do this... Here I am with a few dozen cobra towels that I cant even use on door jambs or wheels without getting those stupid little fibers everywhere. Whats sad is that the cheap (24 for $10) towels I got from sams club doesn't lint like the cobra towels.

Another member sent me a towel from pakshak, that will be whats going to replace all of these junk cobra towels. The cobras will be turned into very expensive shop rags.
 
I would be more than happy to send anyone a pair of new "red" shop towels in exchange for each cobra towel that they consider unacceptable to use on their vehicles! Im the MAN
 
I have not had linting problems with the microfiber towels that are sold as glass towels. When I initially purchased mine, I was told to always wash them separately from my other microfiber towels.

I have, like everyone else, had linting problems with my other microfiber towels. No single brand seems to be exempt from this problem. BUT ... I have not had linting problems with Meguiar's Ultimate Wipes. I would expect the same lint-free performance from AG's Arctic White and Indiglo cloths.

Every situation is different I guess. I bought the Meg's Ultimate wipe towels and all 3 of them lint like crazy. I can't comment on all Cobra towels because I mostly own the Indigo Edgeless and I haven't had any issues with them. I haven't tried Poorboys towels. I can comment on PakShak towels, I have had zero issues with them. Come to think of it, I bought two large packs of orange and yellow Sam's Club towels and have had zero issues with those as well.

I have many towels from many, I wont say all, the resellers. Alot are quite similar other than color/edging options. I do notice a small amount of lint occasionally with super ultra plush and ultra thick type towels. Usually gone rather quickly with good washing and good storage hints like you offered above. I also always wash and care for towels initially before 1st use.

With glass towels, they do indeed work best when stored outside of other towels and also washed outside of other towels. I keep mine in ziplocks so they can be in the same container with other current towels. I do prefer the WW design on glass versus standard plush ones.
 
Ive never used Cobra but ive had good luck with ones from Sams Club too...24 for $10...there are different color options...they are real soft too surprisingly. Ive even used it to remove polish with NO issues....passes the C.D test as well.

I just use green ones for paint and blue ones for windows ONLY. They lint (BIG lint, not the small fibers you're talking about) when you first take them out of the package...but a few good hard shakes knocks out all the loose big pieces of lint and they its good to go.

And as others have said, wash them by themselves with liquid detergent and you should be ok.

I am curious about the PakSak cloths everyone mentioned tho...never heard of em...anyone have some extras layin around?

What is the C.D. test? Looks like a trip to Sam's Club is in order, that looks like a helluva deal!

The C.D. (music CD or a DVD) test is just taking the microfiber towel and running it over a new C.D. like you would run it over a car....... if there is scratch marks left than you decide lol
 
The Cobra waffle weave glass towels don't lint along with the indigo towels. All the other plush cobra towels lint.
