Fully Detailed TSX

Awesome job man! Looks great!

Don't worry about how long it takes. It's alllll about the outcome.

Of course, if you're working on a customers vehicle...that's different, ha. 12 hours may upset them. Depending on the package they order of course. For example...my Platinum Package requires me having the vehicle up to two days. So they can't complain :props:

I have thought about it, but didn't know how to safely remove them. Might give it a try in the summer. It would look a lot more cleaner.

pretty easy actually, here's a video...

slickooz, have you thought about removing the badges (acura & tsx)? it's pretty easy to do, with some fishing line. it would look alot cleaner and you wouldn't have to worry about any towels or wash media snagging on them. you can always save the badges and use some double sided tape to put them back on at some later point if you feel the need. just a thought...
Fishing line won't scratch the car?

no, because you are sawing with the fishline towards the inner part of the emblem and not the paint. if it does leave slight scratching, you can polish it out very easily. i've done it a handful of times with no problems. any car that i own that has emblems, they will come off unless it has prongs in them where they go though the paint. i prefer the clean look without them...

fishing line or dental floss is used the most. I personally use dental floss because otherwise I would have to go out of my way to buy fishing line. :)

A heat gun helps, but you have to be careful. To avoid giving out potentially dangerous advice, its easier to just recommend that the owner of the vehicle parks it in the sun for the entire morning , than debadge's it. If left to sit in the sun, the badge's pull right off with the method shown in the video.

also, 3m general adhesive remover should be used to remove ALL of the adhesive residue BEFORE going near the paint with a cleaner wax or polish. DONT clay, and dont try rubbing off the residue with a polish. The polish should be used to remove the staining that looks like builup that will be left around where the edges of the residue resided. And to remove the film that makes it look like the paint is stained under the badge's (in most cases, it is not, it just appears that way).

I have debaged many vehicles and have never had an issue. The biggest problem that I see people run into is when there not careful and dont use the correct products in removing the adhesive leftovers. without a product like 3m general adhesive remover, you will have to pick at it to remove it, and that will and can scratch the car. Also, many people use the polish with adhesive still slightly on the paint, which will scratch as you rub aggressively.

even easier is to get a box of plastic razor blade's. heat, chemical, than swipe the residue off. than polish and finally wax the area.

Removing the adhesive is no biggie for me but I had never come to a trick to debadge a car real easy. Thanks everyone this trick will come in handy. I am very familiar with my heat gun you have to be real careful you might put a lot of heat that you will end up chipping off the paint real quick.

I had nothing much to do today so I decided to remove the badges.
Took a little longer then expected and some of the lettering was damaged from heat gun.

I don't think you need a heat gun to remove badges prob overdose if you ask me, hair dryer should work fine.

Yeah thanks for the heads up on removing badges.:props: I really like how clean it looks now.

How long does it usually take to remove the adhesive stuff? Took me about 1.5 hours removing all of it. I used goo gone and it will still very difficult.

I decided to start my own business. I been getting a few emails and some people waiting for detail once weather gets better.

I went in and applied on Jan and its been close to 3 months with nothing real assurance that I will get the job. So I decided to post on few forums and see where this takes me.

Nice job on the detail, slickooz... love that paint color. Back to your first post/pics on this thread, it looks like you only used M205 and a white pad? Was that sufficient to remove all swirls? I would think you need something a little more aggressive... (pad and polish)...

Since it was a new car. It had very light swirls. I was able to remove 95% of them with Griot's white flat with M205. It prob took a couple more passes but it got the job done. My dad brought the car for service and they gave it a FREE wash and it came back all swirled. Once it gets nice again going give it a one step polish, should get most of them out.
