Good intentions, bad result...OPC Help!

And here they are (after OPC 3:1 applied with MF towel, scrubbed with toothbrush, and wiped down/dried with a damp MF towel - no dressing applied)! Lesson learned :dblthumb2:

Direct sunlight likes to play with my eyes, looks like new in the pictures! Now I see why OPC is regarded so highly, you just have to know how to use it :).
 
I think they just weren't clean enough to begin with. The sheen that is in the pictures is what I'm going by. When cleaned sufficiently, NO dressing or shine/sheen should remain...which is exactly what we see on the spot. Sometimes this is not spreading the product quickly, but sometimes it seems like the materials may have areas that absorb more than others. I would actually have used OPC at 1:1 or straight to try to fix the spots after I saw that 3:1 left dressing/shine.

Glad you got it fixed and agree with mg, opt leather protectant is great with high soil/liquid resistance
 
Over the years...I've learned to not spray ANY product directly on leather. It's just too risky. There's also not really a need to do so anyways.

I have no experience with OPC. But, I've had no luck with any product that claims it can be used on anything. I prefer to stick with products specific to the job at hand. Especially when it comes to leather cleaning.

Yes it is a highly regarded product, so don't give up on it!!! It's an awsome cleaner!!:props:
 
I usually spray on the OPC. I have never ran into a problem. The OPC is not going to stain your leather if sprayed on.

For some people its just good practice not to spray it on, because if you forget about it while attending to something else, and it drys in place, you could see issues where the product dried on its own.

otherwise, OPC is totally safe to spray on and work in, IME. than use a damp towel to wipe up.

The good thing about using Optimum Leather Protectant is that the cleaners in the product will remove any residues left over by the OPC. Also, Opt Leather Protectant is a bit hydrophobic, and resists the leather looking blotchy if it gets wet and you dry it up there after.
