Having a sealant issue...

When i use wolfgang spritz sealant on top lsp's my paint gets squeaky and that stuff flash dries rather quick.

The spritz must have alcohol, too. I took a whiff of the V7 and there is an alcohol smell, not very strong, though. So maybe after repeated use, as I've been saying, the MPL is slowly getting removed.

I have some V7 to sell, lol.

Gallon size, but I've used about 28 oz, so 100 oz is what's left.

Paid $40, sell for $25, buyer pays shipping.

All detailers have alcohol i think some just have too much.

Probably, the two i like are duragloss fast and clean and mothers showtime. They both have a little alcohol, i believe mothers has less alcohol.

Why would QD sprays contain alcohol when they're said to be used to provide shine and a "topper" on existing wax?

I think maybe for cleaning and to help it flash dry would be my guess.

Well, maybe I'm done using a QD during the drying process. I'll just use the pooling water technique, dampen the MF towel and pat the car dry and blow the rest out with a leaf blower. I don't want to be tearing down the sealant protection after every wash.

This is a very interesting thread! I've been paranoid about the same thing recently.

Yes, it's a very interesting ordeal, but frustrating. I now have maybe 100 oz of V7 that I honestly do not plan on using. What gets me is that CG says Hybrid V7 can be used with Black Light and I imagine whatever other products they have. There are no dilution requirements or anything either. It does kind of smell like alcohol, a very faint scent, but I'm still not sure if it really has alcohol. I used to use Meguiar's Ultimate QD after every wash, but at 7 or 8 bucks a bottle and only getting maybe 4 uses out of it, it got to be expensive. I never had any adverse effects when using that. Hell, I think it made the water bead even better than with just sealant alone.

After work, I'm gonna give my car a good rinse and another coat of MPL, let it dry maybe a half hour to an hour and then leave it alone, no more QD sprays after washing, no more V7 for sure. I'm tempted to use Griot's Speed Shine, but I was informed that most QD's have alcohol in them, but it doesn't make sense to me why companies would promote their QD's if they strip wax little by little. It's a bog mind-eff for me, so I'll prob just use the Speed Shine with the clay here and there. Maybe I can sell the V7 on Criagslist or something, or if anyone is interested, PM me about the V7 and I can always send it out, free shipping, we'll negotiate a price or a possible trade.

I'm definitely going to think twice about using V7 on my paint. I might just use the remainder on my wheels. I'm thinking about contacting CG and see what they have to say, if anything. That probably wont do anything, but I'll feel better lol. I'll definitely be going back to Megs Quick Wax after Washings. TH3M BON3Z... if you're looking for a QD, may I suggest purchasing Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine? Can be diluted to be used as a QD.

Hasn't it been said that V7 has some cleaning properites to it? If so, this could be it. I suggest switching to DG Aqua wax to replace V7.

Let us know how it goes.

In for info. Just got a gallon yesterday lol. I use it for touch ups.

I'm excited to get another coat of MPL on the paint, lol. Just one coat of MPL after using the paint clay makes the paint feel so soft, it's ridiculous.

How does MPL compare to blackfire and 4 Star sealants?

If you're asking me personally, I can only compare MPL to 3M Performance Finish, a sealant.

While I'm on the subject, I'll give you my thoughts, lol.

MPL is pretty easy to apply by hand and is allowed to dry from a few mintes to even a whole hour and doesn't leave any streaking on the paint, it's just harder to remove the longer it dries.

The 3M PF sealant is literally a wipe on/wipe off sealant. You don't let it haze. If it dries for too long, it's pretty damn hard to remove but also leaves the paint all streaky and messy looking, almost appears to be "stained". I like the MPL much better because I can seal my whole car, let it dry, and then buff it off and the only issues I have is that it's harder to remove, but that's normal, so it's really not a product problem, and the paint comes out feeling so slick, great water beading, bugs hardly stick to my hood and front bumper, so basically I'm happy with it.

I believe it is Blacklight that some people say has cleaning/corrective properties, not V7.

If you like Megs Ultimate Quik Detailer, you can buy the same thing in gallon sizes, M135 Synthetic Spray Detailer. Same exact formulation (smell is slightly different, but that is it) for around $30 per gallon.

OOOOOOO, thanks. :D

The UQD never seemed to interfere when I used 3M Performance Finish. Sometimes I wonder if MPL isn't as strong as the 3M. If you smell both of them, 3M is really strong smelling, it's harder to apply more so than the MPL, too.

Thoughts?

I don't top anything with anything, ONLY the same product. I've felt this way since the beginning. I never use QD's either. If I need to touch up anything after washing, I use my clay lube(DP). I wash with a non gloss enhancing, pH balanced soap. I don't want anything interacting or enhancing my LSP.
