Having a sealant issue...

I don't top anything with anything, ONLY the same product. I've felt this way since the beginning. I never use QD's either. If I need to touch up anything after washing, I use my clay lube(DP). I wash with a non gloss enhancing, pH balanced soap. I don't want anything interacting or enhancing my LSP.

Makes sense to me. :) Think I'll go back to the basics like I used to, lol. I can find safe alternatives to drying my paint.

Ummm, interesting.

This is how I've always felt with the exception of washes that might have gloss enhancers in them. Other than that, my LSP remains just that, the LSP.

I would have to do a half/half test on the hood, if it were me. Strip hood, then apply MPL to entire hood, then leave half untouched and other with V7. See if the issue appears only on the V7 side?

You have the right idea!

This is why I like to stick to a line on a detailed car. If I use Megs Ultimate Paste wax, or Ultimate Liquid wax, then I will use Megs UQD and UQW for maintenance. It won't change the look of my LSP, and it will not harm the LSP either. Same with DG Aquawx and DG Fast Clean & Shine with any of the DG sealants like 501, 105, 101, 111.

How about switching to a spray wax-sealant to help aid with drying like D156 or Aquawax?

I feel both of these boost your LSP, aid in drying and offer no cleaning properties.

I am almost done with my first bottle of V7 and think I am going to stick with UWW for cleaning, D156/Aquawax for drying aid, boosting and topping and D155 for clay lube.

Just wasn't that impressed and did notice the beading issue too. It doesn't bead like D156, that's for sure.

I've used blacklight and v07 and the paint has always felt very slick. It went through 7 or 8 washes like this. Applied the V07 after every wash. I believe in staying with the same brand products together.

Paint does feel slick after V7. During your rinse cycle and before V7 did you notice the water beading?

In my case I applied V7 after wash and after 2 weeks and some rain beading was gone, unlike Aquawax and D156.

For a drying aid/QD that has no wax or gloss enhancers and is ALCOHOL FREE............Poorboy's Spray & Wipe!:dblthumb2:

After applying the MPL, going a week until my weekly washing, rinsing the car and water beading was awesome. Then I'd use the V7, all was well, then the 2nd wash came, less beading, but still alright, then by the 3rd or 4 wash, the water was just sticking to the paint, no beading whatsoever. I think I'll just use V7 for the windshield and all the other glass, not the paint on top of the MPL. I'll probably just stop topping off the MPL altogether except with more MPL.

All detailers have alcohol i think some just have too much.

Probably, the two i like are duragloss fast and clean and mothers showtime. They both have a little alcohol, i believe mothers has less alcohol.

I think maybe for cleaning and to help it flash dry would be my guess.

This thread got me thinkin how many of these detail sprays contain alcohol. I have some free samples of Adams new detail spray and it cleans very well, smells great doesn't streak and kind of melt into the paint..............mmmmm.

I am going to stop using DS as a drying aid and wipe down and only use it for spot cleaning.

The only other safe drying technique I can think of is to use the "pooling" process to remove excess water droplets and then use a dry or damp microfiber towel to pat the paint dry, no rubbing or pressure needed.

I used to dry my car this way, but then caught on to the whole detail spray drying method. It's a great method, but if I gotta worry about alcohol content and wax stripping, forget it.

My car is getting another coat of MPL either tonight or over the weekend and I'm not topping it with anything anymore.

Someone from Griot's Garage told me that Speed Shine doesn't contain any alcohol, but maybe he just wanted me to buy their stuff, lol. He seemed to think maybe I was a new customer, but my message did somewhat imply that. The Speed Shine smells like you can drink it, lol.

D156 or Aquawax, you won't be disappointed and it will boost MPL. Washed my Durango RT this morning and dried with D156, love it.

Thanks for your suggestions and everyone else's, too.

I may look more into the D156. Is it liquidy at all? I tried CG Blitz once, a spray sealant, but it was way too thick to be sprayed, I found.

Last night, I washed my car, pooled the water off with the hose and dried it, but I feel as if the detail spray drying deal is much safer and kind of easier. My car also got another coat of MPL. I've been using a UFO-looking red foam applicator and either it soaks up tons of product or it just spreads wax/sealant in a very thin coat. I could hardly see where I was applying the MPL, lol. I don't like to glob it on, but I do like to see where the sealant is going so I'm not repeatedly going over the same areas over and over.

D156 is the same as Meg's Ultimate Quick Wax, if you want to buy it locally. D156 comes in a gallon jug only but QW comes in 16oz.

Not thick at all. I use a Meg's spray bottle and spray head on a fine mist. After leaf blower, I mist one panel at a time and use MF waffle weave drying towel to spread/dry remaining water. Then buff with separate MF towel.

I've never used Meg's UQW, but I'm familiar with their UQD, which I was a fan of. I can only imagine that the D156 will be just a nice. Thanks for the info. :)

Looks like another purchase is in order soon, lol. Maybe sometime next month. Gotta control meself. :D

Ah, who am I kidding? I think I may get it now so I can get it on Tuesday. :D

Are you talking about the Hybrid V7? If so, I personally think it was affecting the MPL on my paint, so maybe you're experiencing the same deal.

I already bought the Meguiar's D156, lol. I've got the detailing sickness. :D

I just really prefer to spray each panel and wipe the car dry. I'll make sure to buff each panel with a clean microfiber when I'm done, too.
