Having a sealant issue...

Are you talking about the Hybrid V7? If so, I personally think it was affecting the MPL on my paint, so maybe you're experiencing the same deal.

I already bought the Meguiar's D156, lol. I've got the detailing sickness. :D

I just really prefer to spray each panel and wipe the car dry. I'll make sure to buff each panel with a clean microfiber when I'm done, too.

Let us know what you think of D156.

Let us know what you think of D156.

I really liked the UQD from Meguiar's, so I'm really hoping the D156 will allow me to dry my car safely and also boost the MPL. I'll probably test it this coming Tuesday and will follow up within a week or so.

do u guys think it can affect opticoat?? my 4 months old opticoat is not beading as much as before.....

Nothing affects opticoat. It is as bulletproof as any coating ever made on this planet. Read the directions, you have to polish it off. Grrrrrrrr.

I used V7 on OptiCoat with no issues.

The only time I use a strong detergent is when I use Dwn to strip all the wax and start fresh. I then make sure my wash mitts get thoroughly washed and rinsed before the car is washed again. I once made the mistake of not doing that and I nearly washed all the sealant off the paint. I was annoyed, lol.

It's just frustrating when I see my paint bead for a week or two and then see it stick to the paint. Makes me feel like all the effort I put into keeping the paint protected is done for nothing. I live in Florida and the sun isn't at it's hottest just yet, so it's not like the MPL melts off... it's a strong sealant, anyway.

Sometimes I wonder if the chemicals in the V7 conflict with the chemicals in the MPL. Chemical reactions do happen, lol.

I may just stop using the V7, use the pooling water technique to dry and follow up with damp microfiber safely, and if the paint beads like mad, maybe that'll give me an answer. If that's the case, I've used so much V7 that I really can't return it. I like CG products, but I'm not sure if the V7 is working well for me. That or I could try switching to JetSeal 109. As we all know, most company's products tend to work with each other.
Here is my experience with CG and V-7 IF...you are using ANY of the CG shampoos a number of them can be deluted for a shampoo OR a different ratio for a paint cleaner. The problem is tha ttheir dilution directions on the label are misleading and will lead you to mix at a stronger solution than yo want for shampooing your car. In fact the instructions often differ from the web site and the label on the bottle. They may indicate a "cap full" in one place and then an oz in another. I measured...a "caf full" is NOT an OZ! I have no way of really knowing if the V-7 is eating away the LSP other than run an experiment such as Bobby. G suggested. I have had his happen with several of the CG shampoos and until they can get their labels and dilution ratios correct I'll use something else. I would do the experiment and judge for yourself.

See what I mean? LOL. It IS disappointing. Makes me feel like my effort goes towards nothing.

I've been pretty happy with the CG soap I use for my foam gun and wash and also their EZ Creme glaze, but the V7 is sending me mixed messages. At first, it seems to leave a nice slick feel to the paint, but then a few weeks later after repeated use, the paint mysteriously stops beading as if everything has worn down. Obviously waxes and sealants degrade over time, but a sealant shouldn't degrade after a few weeks. On average, I'd say I probably seal the paint with MPL maybe every month or two, even though it can be left for months, that's just how obsessive I am. If my paint ain't soft, slick or doesn't bead water, I'm pissed.
Let me repeat from a previous post. I would look at what Soap you are using and if it is CG you may be mixing at the wrong dilution ratio. Their directions are known to be misleading if not Incorrect. Their is ahell of a difference between "a cap full" per so many gallons and 1 oz per so many gallons. I wonder if a common thread in all of this is the CG shampoo dilution rates and not so much the V-7?

I use CG Maxi Suds II, which says to use one ounce for 5 gallons of water, but doesn't state that it can be diluted in order to strip wax. I know Citrus Wash & Gloss can be used to strip wax if you use 5 ounces in 5 gallons of water.

Honestly, Menzerna powerlock is NOT a choice of someone who wants DURABILITY. Having it tested, I found 3 month durability, think of it as Autozone generic oil for your engine, that needs to be changed every 3k miles. Nothing wrong with that if you have too much free time, but in 21st century I find buying another brand meant to last is a better choice. Having that said, consider switching from waxes and sealants to new nano coatings. There are many excellent choices, I personally really like cquartz as well as Wolf's chemicals body wrap and hard body. Having tested bod on a daily driver, I found it meeting my criteria of long durability - it lasted FULL 12 MONTHS! That's what I'm talking about! Now I'm testing hard body, and expecting 18+ months of durability from it! Also, cquartz does lasts up to 2 years. Honestly, beading, sheeting, ease of cleaning from new nano coatings is so amazing, I pretty much got rid of most of my waxes and sealants. Waxes tend to attract a lot of dust.

Without throwing more wood on the fire. Since I just bought a bottle of V7 and since I'm now working about 4 miles from one of CG's warehouses, I drove over during lunch today and asked about V7 containing alcohol. I had 2 different guys tell me there was no alcohol in V7 ... if that can be believed. I used V7 on my DD last weekend, for the first time and I'll wash as usual this next and see if I have any beading. I'm an ONR guy, and my DD is currently optisealed with OCW on top, I'm not sure if it will be any help, but I'll let you know if there is any beading.

Life is short. No reason to mess with V7. If something does not work for just dump it. Why mess the V7. It may work for most people, but that does not mean you need to use it and aggravate yourself.
If you want slick try KarKare 425 ( not sure of spelling) I have never felt such slickness and it never disturb the wax under it. Or just try a few item until you are happy
