Was doing a new customers car today that got my number from google. I pulled up he introduced himself as i did aswell, he said he just wanted a quick wash & wax on his Cadilliac CTS and wanted me to do the same on his Ford F-150. I did the CTS and he comes out and says it looks fabulous he wants to square up with me then he has to run and wont be home until late tonight, to lock the F150 when im done. He leaves, i start vacuuming the F-150 and this was under the back of the drivers seat. Im just glad he picked me being an honest person rather than one of the "fly by nighters" that are everywhere here that might not have been so kind.

I think a nice tip is in order for that honesty...... it'd be especially easy for him seeing as he will be flushed with cash in person

:p

I think That was his tip!:props:
All joking aside, I think sometimes people set us up to see HOW honest we are. But i'm not going to jeopardize my business for a few bucks(Not in your case). Just think if you tell him, "Hey Mr. X you left some cash in your car, you should really be more careful with it, i would have hated if you would have gone to some of these other dishonest detailers and lost it, I hope you refer me to all your friends!" Think of how much business you'll get. once again:dblthumb2:

I just dont understand how someone can lose $2,000 lol. I guess if you got it you got it, but i cant see in my head how he didnt know it was there. I was happy with the $20 tip he gave me and pretty sure i gained a customer for life.

^Nope.

This looks like what a former boss of mine had all the time in his truck every Monday after visiting the bank. He owned a small concession that I and a bunch of friends use to work at and would have just about the same amount of money for the cash registers and safe. Small bills go much fast than big bills.

The customer should really thank you and he should also get a bank bag for his money. I know banks around here offer you a free bank bag if you open up a business account.

omg he was giving you all that monies to buy more stuff at autogeek...

how can you miss something so obvious? gosh!

OK! :props:

Since we've gotten by the shock of you finding the cash under the seat, what was his expression when you showed him and what did he say?

So that's what money looks like. :props:

What's worse: Finding money like that or a loaded firearm?

Exactly.. I treat the change in the car the same as the money that you found. My customers leave me keys to their homes to open the garage. They drop cars off and I return them days later all because of the trust that's built up. Remember that your reputation is the only thing that proceeds you and will follow you. Great job following up with the customer. You could have found yourself in jail and with legal issues if you had compromised your integrity.

All the luck coming your way past couple days! Didnt you just pick up the haul on CL with the vac and blow and stuff? Time for lottery ticket!!??

What I would have said to the customer.

"Thanks for leaving my tip under the back seat!"

"I really appreciate it!"

Then show him the pile with a "just kidding"

He may also be testing your honesty and integrity.....

What's the big deal I always find money in the cars when I'm vacuuming Like on Sunday it was 3 quarter's 2 dimes and a nickel if I remember correctly. Same thing right?? $2000 vs. $1 Maybe not. never mind.
