So Im looking for a new polisher. Now I have a HF DA and it works okay. I bought it to make sure I wanted to get into machine polishing. Ive read that the heavier polishers can actually harm paint, any truth in that? It was cited because of the machine's weight. I have 5.5" LC flat pads now, so Id like to stick with that size. I really thought the Rupes is mainly better than most cheaper DA's because of the wider/larger throw that can be achieved right, and its quality too. The HF unit isn't that great, but works for what it is no doubt.

You can't go wrong with either. I have the G21 and three Rupes DA's. If you decide to go with Rupes go for the Mark II.

I found a bigfoot really nice condition for 239. Maybe cheaper.

What's the difference in the Rupes models.

I can't speak forRupes, but the G21 is a very nice machine. So much smoother. You may want to go G15.
I wouldn't replace the HF unit with a GG6, you wouldn't gain much.
It you don't already have a 3 or 3 1/2 inch backing plate and 3-4" pads I would pick those up and use them on the HF machine for smaller tighter areas. I think most of us that have upgraded machines the first machine, GG6, PC, HF, for this purpose.

I haven't used the Griots long throw machines, but I do love my Rupes Duetto. It has the feel of the traditional d/a, but a 12mm orbit, instead of an 8mm.

I also love their system of pads and polishes.

I too love my Duetto! :buffing:

My money's going towards a Rupes. I wouldn't even consider anything else except maybe a Flex.

Go rupes mark II or boss, if your going to upgrade do it right.

After you buy this polisher you will never need to "upgrade" as you have the Miachel Jordan of polishers

I have a boss G21..as it improved upon the original Rupes mark1...weather it was the better way or not..

With that being said id try for the mark II

G21 had a good gimmick of bigger motor = no stall...it hasnt stalled on me yet...but the machine does get hott

IF the more efficient motor of the mark II Equals the performance of the boss...itll produce less heat to reduce the potential accellerated wear of your pads

Can you elaborate as to why?

The biggest reason for me is the Rupes is a good bit smoother. The Boss is a good machine, made to get the job done, but it lacks the class and precision of the Rupes IMO. Kinda hard to explain, but overall if I could only have one, I would stick with Rupes. Plus I have the first gen Rupes, im sure the updated version is better yet. Hope that helps...

Rupes and Flex are the only polishers that matter, the pretenders/imitators/knock offs cant be mentioned in the same sentence as these premium polishers. The other one keeps getting a punt by a certain member in every polisher thread it's laughable. Anyone who knows anything about quality won't even give the other brand a look. The same people that made attempts at throwing insults my way for telling it like it is are now suddenly also punting Rupes, always knew the sheep needed a shepherd.

Your still on this? Your a childish loser. It seems that Zubair changed his mind from last year in September.

"Don't knock it till you try it"

The way you talk about other polishers as if they stole your girlfriend.

Many other members suggested the Boss as AG does sell it you cry baby.

Not just me.

So cry about flex "copying" the 15 from Rupes.

But just goes to show you we were right all this time that the Boss did trump the 1st Rupes.

Can't say that about the mark 2 cause I have yet to try it.

Like you said in September "don't knock it till you try it"

Lmao ever time I see you knock anything I am going to post that screen shot.

Get a life. Go Polish your 20k disposable car with your 1,000,000 income

So "get out of your bubble zubair" hahaha

The fact that YOU responded says it all, as for trumping the first Rupes, I suggest you climb back into your trailer and go do your homework as you still need to be "schooled".

Since seeing as you all for imitation go stand infront of a mirror and imitate being a man.

See...I too can fling insults and stoop to your level.

To the admin and moderators am just making a point to someone who wouldn't understand any other way. My last response on this thread as the forum has become far more educated since the last time this type of thread surfaced.
