I got the approval letter Saturday morning, saying that my medical retirement had been approved. I called the retirement system this morning and got confirmation. As of right now, I AM retired.

A strange thing JUST happened. As I was typing this, a representative from my former employer's Human Resources Department called me to let me know that as of December 9th, 2022, I was no longer employed, that I was Officially Retired. I have been a FREE MAN for 10 days and didn't realize it. The feeling is indescribable, but Oh, So good!

Im the MAN:xyxthumbs:

Now for the wife's surprise.

I was taking her to get her license and plates renewed, when out of the blue, she tells me that since I am retired (we didn't know the exact date yet), we really don't need TWO cars ...

Then she tells me that she thinks it would be best if I GARAGED the Camaro in the winters, so I could fix it and it would last longer for me. After all, she doesn't drive much and if we go anywhere, we take her car. So I can just use the Camaro as a summer-fun car ... I NEVER expected that.

:wowwow:

Congratulations on a bit of freedom! You can officially start putting the stress of your employement behind you, live without pressure on you and smile and breath fresh air.

Thanks, although I have not worked since Sept, 30th and have decompressed a lot by simply no longer being IN that lethal environment, between the letter Saturday and the phone call confirming the 9th as my official date I still FELT a huge release.

It's kind of difficult to wrap my head around the fact that 32 years have passed and I am finally free.

Way to go. On year 8 of my medical retirement my self.

AWESOME!!!!!! :righton:

Good for you, Don!!

You have been through Hell and back, and you deserve it, my friend!

Congratulations. Enjoy your freedom and peace of mind. Take care of yourself, enjoy!

Congrats on your retirement and your 'new' summer car (lol)!!! Enjoy!!!

CONGRATULATIONS, Don! That's huge and great news from you, my friend. Enjoy it.

Now...get crackin' on that Camaro! (J/K).

So glad it worked out for the best! You paid your dues, now reap the benefits.

Congratulations, I’m not jealous you are! . Sounds like you got the wife of wives.

Since you got so much free time I expect a lot more posts.

Yes, my wife is awesome - unfortunately our early years were really rough because I was so wrapped up in my "career" I neglected her and my kids - THAT is rapidly turning around, at MY desire.

But, more free time or not, I am still a weather-dependent detailer. So until Mother Nature decides it's time for nice & warm weather, I won't be doing much in the way of detailing, so not much to post. Except for responding to other's posts when I can contribute
